Theresa May says Brexit 'may never happen at all' if MPs reject her deal again Back my deal or risk Brexit never happening, Theresa May tells MPs on Friday. The prime minister used a speech in Grimsby to urge the MPs who voted down her Brexit deal in January to support it when she puts it back to the House of Commons next week. "We may not leave the EU for many months, we may leave without the protections that the deal provides. We may never leave at all," May said. The UK is struggling to persuade the EU to make changes to the Northern Irish backstop which swathes of MPs in Westminster say they cannot support. LONDON - Theresa May has warned that Brexit "may never happen at all" if Members of Parliament vote to reject her deal for a second time next week. The UK prime minister said that parliament could vote for a Brexit delay if her deal with the European Union was rejected on Tuesday, an outcome which could ultimately lead to the UK remaining in the EU. Speaking in Brexit-voting Grimsby, east England on Friday afternoon, the prime minister said: "Next week MPs in Westminster face a crucial choice: whether to back the Brexit deal or to reject it. "Back it and the UK will leave the European Union. Reject it and no one knows what will happen."
Did you choose a big font deliberately, or was that what the kindergarten teacher gave you? Also, what's going to happen to Eurovision if we leave? OMG, it's a cliff edge waiting for us to crash out of and be impaled on the rocks of....erm...something... The implications are likely to be devastatingly inconsequential.
He just copy and pastes so whatever it was where ever he pulled it from we get to "enjoy" It's be churlish of the europhiles to ban the UK but keep Australia in. I think we should have to suffer just Like all the other countries
Yet again we are seeing the failure of extreme ideology ... I've heard a few on here saying "there's no such thing as the extreme left" ... that's a bollox straw man argument ... it's about application At the minute... we have two leaders that don't want to be part of the organisation. We have two leaders that are being controlled if not partaking in the victimisation of "the other". I'm bringing doomy here but when so many liberal countries go isolationist and polarize.... if ends up with allowing the aggressive countries to leap forward... Before ... we responded if a bit late ...and resulted in 5 years of total war ... Now? With in the nuclear age? What stops a Russia or China? They now we don't engage.... so they chip away . Ironically though seeds of own (everyone's) destruction.... some prickgets into the US presidency and pushes the button....on response to the shower in now.
Agree about extremism on the Far Left as well as the Far Right. Agree about the repercussions of liberal countries turning to isolationism and nationalism. Agree that aggressive countries do then leap forward. But us responding with total war? Against China and Russia? - never happened. And with lesser countries total war was never about ideology but geopolitical and financial interests. The only exception being Bosnia. Dealing with China and Russia is going to probably end up with another, much wider cold war with a prime focus on industrial and technological espionage. We're pretty much in it already. Unfortunately last time we were always going to win because communism as an ideology was doomed to fail. The trouble this time is, current communism is pretty much driven by capitalism.
I'll translate; "You know that back stop we agreed to then made UK wide to please nutters from northern Ireland and then agreed again... well we have asked 5 or 6 times to delete it.. any chance pretty please" "no we are not reopening an agreement you made you twats."
May quitting will not get Brexit deal through, say Eurosceptics Eurosceptics have told Theresa May that defeat on her Brexit deal looks certain without more concessions from Brussels, even if she offers to quit in exchange for them voting to get it over the line. The prime minister’s position is looking increasingly precarious, as cabinet ministers have floated the idea of forcing May to name a date for her departure if this could persuade hardline Eurosceptics agree to back her deal. Some leave supporters may be tempted to go for this option to allow a Brexiter such as Boris Johnson, Michael Gove or Dominic Raab to take over and have a go at negotiating the second phase – or the future relationship with the EU. However, the idea of voting for May’s deal in return for her exit was outright rejected by other Brexit supporters, with David Davis, the former Brexit secretary, saying it “will not get the vote through”.
Russia and Israel has never been part of the EU. (Israel has never been part of Europe for that matter)
Israel and Russia are accommodated in European football nevertheless otherwise they are not going to be accommodated anywhere else .
SO whats the betting on the 3 votes this week. Clearly the first is a no. May will lose again. the second? no to no deal? or is it yes to no to no deal?? I can't fathom that one The third is only active if we refuse to leave when asked nicely.... Its kind of when a bouncer is going to throw you out after kicking out your teeth. We vote to stay and have a fight with the full lot of the bouncers. the extension. BTW I hear the eu ways extend and you have to take a 21 month extension to do a proper negotiation. I can see this week ending up where 29th is happening with no deal as face saving is more important.
The likely scenario is: 1. Mays deal : No 2. No to No deal: yes 3. Vote to extend: yes Where does that leave us is anyone’s guess. How long is that extension for? The EU have said they would be willing to give a long extension of 21 months. Surely in any sane world that would make sense as a short extension of 2-3 months will be totally useless. But then this is a totally insane world we are currently living through.
A sane world would have admitted in December or even november last that the deal as agreed was "agreed" by someone who'd no right to do so as she didn't have a clearly objective or backing. We have in effect wasted 5 months and cost the country billions. now: If the UK wants to leave the EU it must: a) agree its basic negotiating stance. What is it leaving to be? Thats fairly basic. b) figure out what the hell to do about northern ireland. c) ensure its got a mandate and enough backing to pass what it agrees to. It is patently obvious that 3 months extension is in effect worthless. The choice is stark here IMO Leave with no deal on 29th march or go back to day 1 and start again. (what day 1 looks like is even difficult to agree) Its pretty easy leave the EU by agreeing to the negotiated EU withdrawal deal. As the UK negotiated that (May) then failed to back it the problem is squarely on the UK's side. All one needs to is look out there and see the global economy slowing dramatically again, and in particular the entire EU (uk included) grinding towards a recession to know this sis the worst possible thing to be doing but here we are.
I think that all mps should take a 5k a month wage reduction untill they get a deal done that benefits the ****s in this country who pay their ****ing taxes!! Give that spare money to the local councils so they stop taking the piss with increases in council tax bills and rises in reductions of services!
