I think his plan to look hard back fired. It’s generated publicity and sympathy for her and her baby. She’ll be treated with kid gloves when she gets back to the UK and get a lighter sentence than she otherwise would have done. Colossal **** up by Javid.

    Hasn’t her baby died?

I find the whole thing quite sad.

What precedent makes you jump to that conclusion?

It’s sad that her child didn’t get a chance at a good life, however, if she had it her way and her husband’s way, we’d all be dead and that baby would have been raised under global Islamic extremism, so the poor boy was on a hiding to nothing either way.

I don’t think there is a precedent. It’s my opinion.

I’m sure our illustrious Gvt, so accustomed to covering themselves in glory, would be delighted if she would just disappear. Unfortunately, unless the Syrian Gvt get their hands on her that’s unlikely to occur.

Javid’s decision will probably be overturned by the appeal. He’ll shrug and say, I tried, and the UK will have to take her back.

If they can make charges stick against her and lock her up, good. I don’t believe her views have changed and she has shown no remorse - only pity for herself.

I’d rather she was in jail where she can’t do any damage or breed any more little jihadis.

    A hunch?

Question for you mate, or anybody really... would that baby have survived if The HO hadn’t ‘revoked’ his mother’s citizenship?

I don’t see how she’d have found her way home given that she can actually find her way home now by the same means as she is not technically stateless.

The UK Gov’t have no obligation to collect her from Syria.

    An opinion.

The opinion of some is that she should be shot or forced into unpaid prostitution. My opinion of what should and what I think will happen to her is different.

No, the baby would’ve died anyway.

I’ve never said the U.K. govt should collect her.

I genuinely doubt they give her much thought. There’s more going on in the UK than Shamima Begum’s case, I’m sure you’re aware.

The Home Office will deal with her as a case number, regardless of what the media are up to.

She’s been discussed in The Commons. Javid has made statements about her (without talking about individual cases).

Yeah I agree, he would have died either way, because his mother is a Jihadi Terrorist.

Somebody was using her as a reference for assurances that people will not be left stateless, and that was answered in no uncertain terms.

Plenty of irrelevant crap gets discussed in that place.

But the Gvt have to be aware of the media. Her case has become high profile, and for a Gvt that seems to step on every banana skin there is, any chance to pander to what they perceive as public opinion they’ll grasp at.

Hence Javid’s theatrical flourish of announcing the withdrawal of her citizenship.

Yeah I’d argue that it would probably make things worse then if she died, given she’s in the spotlight. Given the Dianne Abbott’s of this world, I think it would only intensify the situation.

Not sure that second part happened, happy to be proved wrong.

Anyway, got to get going for the day. It’s been good to chat with some of you without it resorting to childish insults (I’m just as guilty I know) so have a good day lads.

I’m sure I’ll log in to several notifications of other posters ‘pulling rank’ because they’ve read a Tweet or something, it’s all good.

    Later mandingoes.

Very sad, innocent children have no part in this business. In retrospect having survived and being indoctrinated into his/her families radical ideology maybe death doesn't seem the worse option.

    Very true.

The same people who will insist on her guilt and culpability at 15 are the same lot who’d baulk at any attempt to lower the voting age to 16.

It's taken a while for someone to try and spin that from the original point made many times that, if the claim she was young and naive had legs, lowering the voting age doesn't.
