Watford have to make next round of FA cup or they can’t look at today’s selection with pride.

This off side rule must be clarified. Sterling was in an offside position. And the referee gave it on the basis that the defender played it first and the ball went off Sterling.

It shouldn’t have been given because when the ball was played by Aguero towards him, Sterling clearly made an attempt to play it. That means he is active and clearly offside. This goal should not have been given.

City was damn lucky there.

They certainly were. The second Aguero lays that ball off is the only decision that needs to be made. Everything that happens after that point does
not need to be considered. Sterling was clearly well offside.........end of.

I agree but we have had decisions too
Diifference is they have had two which have been game changers in last three games
I am not totally beaten but we are defo up against it now
Think MiTo been saying it and I totally agree city by 7 points
This is why I am so negative as we have just squandered our lead away on daft draws and now we need snookers and I can’t see us getting one

Pray we get past Bayern but their home form against our away and current form does not instill confidence - I will be there cheering and hoping

**** week - fed up
Mate just diagnosed with terminal cancer
World **** at the mo :( :( :(

Law 11 Offside
Offside position
It is not an offence to be in an offside position.

A player is in an offside position if:
  • any part of the head, body or feet is in the opponents’ half (excluding the halfway line) and
  • any part of the head, body or feet is nearer to the opponents’ goal line than both the ball and the second-last opponent
  • The hands and arms of all players, including the goalkeepers, are not considered.
A player is not in an offside position if level with the:
  • second-last opponent or
  • last two opponents
Offside offence
A player in an offside position at the moment the ball is played or touched* by a team-mate is only penalised on becoming involved in active play by:
  • interfering with play by playing or touching a ball passed or touched by a team-mate or
  • interfering with an opponent by:
  • preventing an opponent from playing or being able to play the ball by clearly obstructing the opponent’s line of vision or
  • challenging an opponent for the ball or
  • clearly attempting to play a ball which is close when this action impacts on an opponent or
  • making an obvious action which clearly impacts on the ability of an opponent to play the ball
*The first point of contact of the 'play' or 'touch' of the ball should be used
or
  • gaining an advantage by playing the ball or interfering with an opponent when it has:
  • rebounded or been deflected off the goalpost, crossbar or an opponent
  • been deliberately saved by any opponent
  • A player in an offside position receiving the ball from an opponent who deliberately plays the ball (except from a deliberate save by any opponent) is not considered to have gained an advantage.
A ‘save’ is when a player stops, or attempts to stop, a ball which is going into or very close to the goal with any part of the body except the hands/arms (unless the goalkeeper within the penalty area).

I think law 11 makes it a legit goal <ok>

You have the rules so I can't disagree but the Peter bloke on bt quoted the above but then quoted something else later in the rules to say it was offside... the cock had the cheek to say "As I said" when earlier at the time of the goal he had quoted above to say it was fine lol.

I think it makes it clear without var the current rule is a nonsense... to expect 3 guys over a 20-60 yard area with motion forward and back everywhere to see and remember is a joke. And I'm not a fan of the current refs abilities as it is.

With all fast paced sports... Keep it ****ing simple!

It mattered not in this fixture... some will say it was the first goal but still, this Watford team can't keep a good team out for 90

There are 2 things here. Yes Sterling ‘received ‘ the ball from an opponent BUT before that, he was in an offside position trying to play the ball played by Aguero (a team mate). So he was ALREADY offside before the opponent played it against him.

To me it is a clear and obvious offside . The ref made it more complicated and got himself in a twist.

It doesn't say attempting to play the ball is an offence (I always thought it was) unless it impedes or impacts on an opponent, in this case the opponent was not affected by the player.

Unexpected result of the weekend is 2-1 to Southampton against Spurs.

Spurs sliding down the table and within sight of the mancs (and the other London rivals). A few months ago there was a 15 point difference between them. That they could now be on the same number of points is insane.

Could Spurs actually drop out of top 4?

First team in a three horse race to finish fifth?

Unless we score one like that obviously :bandit:

We have a hard enough time getting our legal goals allowed, like against Arsenal

PGMOL are just handing out illegal goals to City, the ref even needed 3 minutes to explain the plan to the linesman

So we can add offside to the very long list of things you clearly know nothing about.
