New QPR signing Anton Ferdinand has admitted he did not want to leave Sunderland and had little choice over his move to Loftus Road.

The centre half had already begun to form a good partnership with Wes Brown but due to the fact he was heading into the final year of his contract and with the likelihood of a new one being offered looking slim, the Black Cats elected to cash in when the Hoops offered £3m for his services.
Ferdinand said: "I was enjoying my football, I loved every minute I played at Sunderland.
"It wasn't a case of me wanting to leave, I didn't want to leave the club at this time.
"I was playing okay and playing with new players such as Wes Brown and I was enjoying myself.
"But when a club tells you they want you to talk to another club, that kind of makes your mind up for you a little bit, telling you that you're not really in their plans."

Good lad who tried his best every game - but £3m is £3m.

I hope he will not be missed.

I've got a feeling he might be when the injuries start kicking in. We already appear to have a problem with cover in the LB position, because Richo is no defender. I've seen Anton play there a few times and he was far better than Richo.

I noticed a change in him from the back end of last season which has most certainly carried on into to this, where he was playing the best football of his life..I for one think QPR have got a real bargain there.

    Ferdinand wanted to stay...

Tell me about it. I had to tie him up and throw him in the boot!
