Amazing fight back Team was great Glad we got 3 weeks off as all our strikers are dead Ref was **** Kane was offside Sissoko better get a ban for the headbutt Fans were amazing for once I love Ralph
I guess singing "you're going down" when 1-0 up wasn't the clever thing for Spurs fans to do. We've also done Mr Friend a favour by winning, diverts the attention from his awful display. JWP & Valery, makes one proud. Time for some wine, rather than the whine I anticipated.
No, because the only debate was you talking about squad rotation the only time he did it, which was for the City game. He’s always tried to pick a settled side, you’ve just strangely not noticed.
For years, JWP has had the profile of a goal-scoring midfielder, but without the goals. It's an element that he really needed to add, and ye gods has he. Has 6 of our last 13 goals now.
The difference being that he has been constantly in the starting XI for 3 months instead of playing one or two and then dropping to the bench.
Well that was bloody fantastic, and I nearly shouted myself hoarse. Awful, awful first 45, then Ralph changed it up, went for pace up top (Austin was back to being a passenger), and...well...despite the best Offord of Spurs’ Friend, we went and did it! As soon as the ball left JWPs foot you knew it was in. Interesting to see us kicking toward the Northam second half, and the atmosphere was a lot better today (despite me being a Chapel person, I wonder if there’s something to that). JWP is suddenly becoming the player we knew he could be. Well, most of us, other than those saying he was Championship at best. Thank goodness for Ralph.
Hard to sort cause from effect there though. He's had lengthy stretches in years past where he started the vast majority of our games, but never found anything approaching this form; Ralph wasn't using him for the first few matches either, but JWP scoring in his 3rd, 4th and 5th starts under him kinda swayed his hand, heh.
Well done Saints and Ralph. Brave decision to switch a defensive midfielder for an attacking midfielder, when we had given Spurs the freedom of the park for the first 45 minutes. Sims’ impact was immediate. The way he turned the defender, before his cross was misjudged by Long, was a joy, but what I also enjoyed was the simple things he did. There was a moment when he received the ball whilst surrounded by Spurs defenders, and he just rolled the ball back into Redmond’s path, only or Redders to be on his heels and miss out on an opportunity to go for goal. Like some others have said, I thought the foul, that led to the Prowsey goal, really should have been a red. I also loved the Hassenhuddle at the end. Nice touch, Ralph. BBC Sports saying that JWP’s 4 Premier League free kick goals puts him “three” behind MLT. Did LeGod only score seven direct free kicks, in the Premier League? And how many did SRL get?
Only really under Puel who used him in a deeper role a bit and he made the England squad then, he was only a baby before Puel really.
