Look, taking a step back form the pressure of all of this you have to say that you want a team that takes their time to carve out the really good chance and not snatches at stuff. The problem we have is the team ends up going longer and longer as half goes on which is easier and easier to defend. We've not lost but we've dropped lots of points with draws... its not beating sides convincingly for me. its knowing we WILL get that goal and we then WILL make it very hard to get it back off us. With city theres an inevitability at the moment, they will score, they won't let someone back in, but 2 months ago that wasn't there and we were the ones flying. We are needing city to just drop off that level and for us to pick it up.
but they still scored.... that pen wasn't late it was on 60mins v west ham and as i said.. they get the goal. they thing is we have not got the goal in last two. since newcastle debacle (led then lost) 1-2 Beat arsenal 3-1 beat everton 2-0 beat cheslea 6-0 beat west ham 1-0 beat bournemouth 1-0 Thats also got fa cup, CL and league cup final in there where they drew 0-0 but won on pens due to Chelsea lunacy. they've managed all those games but knowing they have to win and going and getting what they need. 4 clean sheets in league in a row. Our record over same time: Leicester 1-1 west ham 1-1 bournemouth 3-0 utd 0-0 watford 5-0 everton 0-0 we had 4 clean sheets too. We had two nice big home wins but city beat two top 6 rivals, and beat everton & west ham.... while we drew v utd and everton and west ham. It'd be nice to think after all those games city were due to blow up and lose to watford this weekend... but there is that inevitability about them either hammering sides or if needed grinding the result out.
No you said there was a sense of inevitability, having watched the last 2 games that was not the case, it was a bit nervy and a lot of possession was not resulting in clear cut chances.
We seem to be able to batter the opposition with 4 or more goals at home. So it has got something to do with our mindset away. Yes, our defence still holds solid but we don't need a clean sheet. What we need are wins and this means attacking football away. We just have to throw the kitchen sink at those sides who will sit back with 10 men behind the ball and attack them like we are playing at home. Klopp needs to drum it into the players that even away we have to score score score and forget about defence. 9 Cup finals ahead (not even an exaggeration)
Good to see AOC having a run out for the U23's he's looking trim and fit considering the amount of time out, let's get Shakira on the same diet and exercise regime as AOC. He went off with a tight hamstring after 41mins but at least the knee was fine and hopefully it's nothing.
Massive game this No longer in our hands Will be four points adrift when it kicks off Must win as every game from now will be
We do I not so sure where everyone gets that city will drop points now Yes they had a really unexpected blip at Christmas but look at their form over past few seasons And as I have said many times before winning the league is always down to large doses of luck When you play teams When players pick up their injuries Loads of variables City have an unrivalled depth in terms of squad - I actually think closest squad is Utd I just don’t see city dropping any points I said when we clear we would draw ourselves out of it and I think we have done I want us to a least make a fight of it Burnley playing well atm can see another draw sadly
I don’t. We have greater joy at home and against teams who think they can play football. Like Watford for example. I see an easy win. 4-0.
