That's what so many Championship clubs thought when ITV Digital were promising them riches At least half a dozen of those clubs went into administration within eighteen months of ITV Digital going bust...
Then most should take heed of the plight of Villa, Sunderland, Birmingham, QPR, Portsmouth, Blackpool, West Brom, Hull, Swansea, Stoke, Blackburn and Wigan. All 12 were relegated from the premier league this decade and all bar West Brom are in financial difficulty. All but Blackpool and QPR had been in the premier league for at least 5 years and some a lot longer. I find it shocking how much stick we get for being financially sound in our dealings by the same media who bemoan how poorly these clubs were run during the time of plenty. When you add in clubs like Sheffield Utd, Leeds, Sheffield Wednesday, Wimbledon, Coventry, Nottingham Forest, Ipswich, Norwich, Swindon, Charlton, Bradford, Barnsley, Notts County, Leicester, Southampton and Palace (Leicester, Palace and Southampton all went into receivership but recovered and are the only ones to have done so) it is a shocking story of financial mismanagement and incompetence throughout the English game. Out of those 28 teams only County were never in the premier league. When clubs need fans they may well not return after being driven away.
They really do need Poch as their next manager. He’d improve that side without needing massive money.
