Not for awhile, was very good for us when we had players who were good around him. In his last year he had utter **** like Charlie Austin playing with him so can't really blame him for not being up to his usual standard, he is a play maker who thrives on people making runs off him.
Must be precious little else in your repertoire. I wish I had a quid for every time you've posted that. So creative
Yeah he did an interview recently where he said he was done with the PL. Said he got no protection from refs and was just kicked to **** and after playing 4, maybe 5, seasons he couldn't be bothered with it anymore and always wanted to return to Holland. Supposedly had PL offers and from Italy and Spain before deciding to go Ajax so I'd imagine it would be very unlikely he would move back to the PL.
I think what I really meant was, we the fans got mugged off by the club. Once again we sold our best player, even after finally getting to see what that leads to. We wouldn’t stand in Rickie’s way when he wanted to make his dream move to Liverpool; we wouldn’t stand in Pelle’s way when he wanted to go to China and become fabulously rich; and we wouldn’t stand in Tadic’s way when he wanted to be part of something special at Ajax. All very laudable, but where has it left us?
Well I guess this is the point, last season was the first really bad year using the "sell anyone any good" model. So I don't blame the club for thinking that the model could still work. What I do blame the club for is **** recruitment and spending pretty much **** all despite the money sloshing around with tv deals, player sales etc As I said I don't believe in keeping players who don't want to be at a club, I was up for selling VVD the summer Liverpool came in for him, despite it only being like 3 months into his new 5 year deal. As long as we are getting good money for him. In the main we have got good fees for the players we sold. Tadic, Pelle and Lambert were more "thanks for your service" type transfers where we weren't as hard nosed over the fee.
Yeah I said it earlier in the season even before their major slump, they’re gonna go mental this summer. It’s going to be a “Galactico Summer” without a doubt. Will be fascinating to watch, although somewhat dreading it too as I think Eriksen may well be one of them. Their fans were supposedly chanting for José last night, club should listen to their fans I say...
Tbh with them struggling they are going to be desperate. Could mean a nice meaty fee for eriksen even though he only has 1 year left as they will be under a barrel. I think its an ideal situation as he doesnt look like he will be signing a new contract. Fans will understand the sale, the only question is how will poch feel about it, especially if he doesnt get to reinvest it. Knowing levy he will wait last minute to fleece real off the highest amount so you dont have time to rebuy
Doubt he’ll wait last minute, that only really happened with Berbatov. Other big money sales like Modric, Bale and Walker all left with time to replace. Poch will likely be able to reinvest the money. Bigger question is on who? We can’t just easily find an Eriksen replacement, he’s one of the best playmakers in Europe. Not particularly looking forward to this summer what with Toby off as well.
I reckon their will be a replacement. I don't think all the money will be reinvested into the playing squad though. You have taken on a lot more debt building the stadium that budgeted for cause of overrun and renting wembley. The other thing is all the new wages youbare paying out (alli, kane, son and a few more?) Alingside the usual signing on bonuses and leeching agents. As long as you boys make top 4 i reckon levy might make do again provided poch stays
Yeah there’ll be a replacement... it’s just the calibre likely won’t be of Eriksen’s level. As of October, the club did repeat that the stadium would not/ did not directly affect transfers. Realistically anyone with half a brain knows it has done but I still think there was money to spend but that Poch was being extremely cautious with who he wanted. Pure guess work, I’d say we had around £50m-£60m, basing that on who we know we definitely bid for (Grealish - £25m) along with others we were linked with. I’d imagine that will be similar for this coming summer, along with fees we’d get for Eriksen, Toby and hopefully some of the deadwood. We still need a creative CM, while replacements for the two key players plus a top RB would be ideal.
I think there’s a good possibility that we could do a deal with Real for Eriksen that involves Bale coming the other way.
