Yeah I shouldn't be allowed to read stuff prior to 10am as I clearly am still asleep and brain doesn't work and this is the outcome.
Decades ago when I was at the college in East Park Terrace that is now Solent University, we used to play 5-a-side in the hall at lunch time, using wooden benches for goals. One of our number was called Big One - no don`t get excited ladies, he was about 6`5". Anyway he had the bright idea of lying in front of the bench with his arms stretched out, thus obscuring the entire goal from the opposition`s lethal strikers. A firmly struck drive right in the nuts soon changed his tactics. Ralph, if you are reading this, please incorporate this into free kick drills at training.
Shane Long can go in the wall then. Rule actually reads: "No attacking threat players are allowed in the wall"
Know what you're saying but the introduction of this spectacle irritates me, it usually takes a long time to get it organised, removing the initiative of momentum from the attacking team and enables the defending team to reorganise, usually resulting in said free kick looping harmlessly over the cross bar. I've always assumed that it was intended to stop opposing players from standing less than 10 paces from the ball and hold up play, if that is the case it's clearly counterproductive. If a player deliberately stands near the ball preventing a free kick....yellow card....if he persists....red card.
Was he. He didn’t play so well in those last two seasons. I guess that must just be our fault then. As you were.
Glad he's doing well. His parting gift of good form has allowed us to continue our ongoing struggles in the best league.
Tadic showing what a quality player he is on the biggest stage. Playing like he did for us in the koeman days - like most players of his type needs the right manager to thrive, something we absolutely did not have in his latter years with us. And he was duly declared crap by some. Lol.
