The capacity of Hillsborough has been temporarily reduced to 34,854. The Leppings Lane end has 6,658 seats. The police restricted the Blunts to 4,000 seats, and that was up from the 3,000 they were going to give them. So, 2,658 seats of the reduced capacity were not available. That made a total of 32,192 seats available Meaning there were 832 unsold seats. Not bad for a televised match on a lousy night, on a school night when the kiddies can't go as they have school in the morning (you know - all the reasons given when we didn't sell out) with the cheapest ticket price £40. Far more than our cheapest ticket price against the Blunts and one City fans won't pay. Though the prices charged at Wembley were higher (titter).
That isn't segregation just for this match. They haven't used that for while. As I said the capacity has been reduced temporarily for health and safety reasons. Though what they are is anybody's guess.
"Still a better effort from them than the 22000 who turned up against Leeds. Embarrassing to see all those empty seats on the Kop." - some random oinker from a Sheff U forum
