Just had a quote to remap the car, £399. So, is it worth it? Wondering if anyone has an experience, not sure but perhaps @PISKIE might have had this done?!?!
I read this... This is known as vehicle remapping because the ECU is essentially a program that controls how the engine works. When your car is remapped, the tuned software is plugged into your cars serial port (or OBD port) which then overwrites the engine map with the new version to enhance engine performance. Still no clue.
@Chief I think you put the decimal point in the wrong place. £3.75. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AA-2018-...863080&hash=item4434995f14:g:04YAAOSwqjhcUeNL
That’s top end dollar for a stage 1 (?) remap. But it all depends on who’s doing the remap. Loads of garages and mechanics have got software for remaps, but they usually aren’t anywhere near as good as people like Pendle and those who just do tuning and performance as a specialty. What car are you mapping ? You want to look for a map that increases bhp and torque on an even keel (they should be able to show you some of their rolling road print out graphs) I remapped a 320d touring from 180bhp to around 220 bhp and an extra 60lbs of torque and it made a ****ing huge difference. Was like **** off a shovel and because the engine didn’t have to work as hard to go as fast, it was better on fuel economy too (as long as you don’t drive it like a nutter)
if it’s done properly, yes. It can increase both engine power and fuel efficiency. I have a now 9 yr old 330d. It was remapped by Emaps - you can find them online. Simon knows his stuff inside out and BMW’s in particular. http://www.e-maps.co.uk/
Emaps gave me the quote. It was you who told me to go to them. Thanks for all the other input, you clueless bellends!! (bar Pisk of course, who has told us his remap story about 53 times IIRC)
