Just abandon offside altogether, it'd make life so much easier and give pundits less to talk about. A win all round.
true. He had record ever number of assists in CL season. The fact is the midfield need forwards to score to actually get the assist figure. The reality is none of them are the type to join the box really and get in on the end of a cut back. The other realist is we are set up to go long or a big switch out wide and its the 3 forward players who might get there but the midfield isn't brought up the park.
This is an important point. Both Henderson and Fabinho put Mo through for chances he'd have buried blindfold last season.
yup. Matip didn't really mean the ball that fell to salah as well but last season that was in the net 100%
In the end: On the 1st march 2018 we had scored 65 league goals after 28 games exactly a year later after 28 games we had scored 64 goals.... The main difference in goal scoring was last year's CL we got an easy group and filled out boots and then got a piss easy last 16 game and scored 5. those goals pad the stats. I mean its ONE league goal total in difference between the supposed amazing attack and this supposed **** one. the reality is in the same time period we had conceded 32 league goals last year and this year its 15. 57 points to 69 points = 12 point swing in those 17 less goals... we were 18 points off city last year on the 1st march. This year we WERE 1 point clear of them. finally city have only dropped off last years record from by 7 points... just 7.. so we are making assists.. we are stopping goals the other end but we are all bottling it under pressure like chris sutton says. If we were 10 pints clear right now people would be all over the team saying how freaking awesome they are. They were only 6 points shy of city's record breaking season going into last weekend... utd were on 59 points in 2nd last year, if city were on 59 and we were on 69
It's funny, I heard GNev's commentary on a highlights programme. The Fabinho and Matip chances were in a similar position and on the first one he said "Salah's first touch was poor, it was too straight and took him too wide...blah, blah". On the second one he said "his first touch was poor, he brought it inside and that gave Keane the chance to get back ... blah, blah". Damned if you do..........etc.
well.... you could say that but they were different. That matip one had to be hit first time. he took an unnecessary touch imo, that allowed him to be closed down
Think the difference was salah had more time and space and could take it inside so he had a far better shooting angle. He went to wide which made it easier for pickford to save (of course this would all be mute if he had put it in). The second time he didnt have the space to go that far inside hence keane was able to put in a fantastic challenge, so it was a bad touch in respect he didnt even get a shot off
My point is that things get over-analysed. It all happens in a second or two and it's easy to say what they should have done after interminable replays and we don't need "experts" droning on for hours. It's the same when players are confronted with the choice of taking a shot or passing to a team-mate who might be better placed - if they go in they're great, if not there are people queueing up to say what they should have done. We can all do that.
I'm surprised nobody picked up what i mentioned above. 1st march 2018. 65 goals scored 32 goals conceded 1st march 2019 64 goals scored. 15 goals conceded the difference in the two seasons is obvious. its also not in attack par se.
City are 7 points worse than last season. what does that mena? who knows. We are many points Better off I did up this graph to show it. You can see we have been scoring well until about 8 games ago when the line flattens off and we in effect end up where we are today. If the line had another 3 or 4 goals we would be prob top of table The red line is last year goals scored the blue is goals conceded. You can clearly see the difference. the main jump in the blue line is down to one game which we won (palace)
I knows theres lots of reasons to laugh at spurs... but... I recall LFC's manager being pillioried to dare question the time between games and being called soft etc. Pochettino with a 3-0 lead is having a serious moan about dortmund playing Friday night and his team playing (and playing ****) saturday morning. is he for real? Like... you want to play the norht london derby at night on a friday night... around wembley... like... HELLO!!! the police would tell you to **** right off for a start.
So basically make the same level of improvement next year and we will win the league by 10 points lol
well.... IF we keep the goals conceded the same its safe to say that adding say 10 goals or 15 goals should in theory trun the draws we've had into wins. everton 0-0. only one goal needed Utd. only one goal needed (common theme here of team too far apart, one man on his own trying to do something etc) But conversely both west ham and Leicester were don't let a sloppy set piece goal in and you'll be fine either. Our draws were: Chelsea away, 1-1. It wasn't a great game as i recall. sturridge scored that equaliser? City away home.0-0 They came for the draw, they got the draw Arsenal 1-1 we were all disappointed but arsenal did play well. Leicester home 1-1 scored, they played better and were dangerous but we just conceded a real sloppy equaliser off a free. West ham away. 1-1. they were not that good. we scored then sat off and they again got set piece equaliser Man utd away 0-0. they fell apart we forgot to try and win the game. Everton away 0-0. They defended well, and we look ****ed after 60mins and they looked more likely. 2 homes draws and 4 away draws. if you look for perfection here are the games where a little bit of defence better or a goal scored could have made the difference. The reality is as many have said time and again to me never mind others is city are a 10/10 side and right not it could well be LFC70, next team 60 points or 63 points or whatever.
my next analysis: League tables with 10 games to go: in 2011/12 there was a similar season to this one. If you recall city won that title on last day over man utd who were leading the table with 10 to go. Utd had lead by 1 point on 67 points to city's 66 with 10 to go. whats the difference between then and now? 3 points... that's it... 3. So this just says to me... this season is not that hugely different to the past after all. they both finished on 89 points. the chart shows that in the previous 2 season the title was actually all but over with 10 to go. The thing this shows is this is the highest points tally for both 1st and 2nd placed teams in the last 10 years but there has been occasions where 1st place has been higher.
