That’s a shame Magic, we had an hour spare too. He loved the City and the Uni. Early feel is that the course at another Uni maybe better suited, but we’ll see. Two more yet to see and he’s also got interviews for apprenticeships coming up. He’s also 18 next month which means he’ll change his mind 5 times between now and Decision day!
The apprenticeship interviews, are they with potential employers? I used to work for two local training agencies that arrange the training funding and enrol the apprentices onto the appropriate college courses, and they wouldn’t sign people up for apprenticeships unless they had guaranteed employment.
Most people who visit seem to like the place. Bristol Uni is mainly situated pretty centrally I believe (didn't actually go there myself but I know a lot of the buildings are around where you took the photo of the statue) so I'd imagine is a great place to be a student. There are at least 4 sets of student halls near me which are all Bristol Uni ones rather than UWE so for the first year at least he would be centrally based. The city itself is great if you are living around where you visited as everything you really need is within walking distance, lots of different areas for nights out/sports field all within 15/20 minute walks or a short bus ride. You can even get out of the city and to Ashton Court which is basically the countryside in about 25 mins walk from that statue, it is quite a weird place really.
Hi Badger Yes they are. First one was two Saturdays ago, with a job at the end of it. The second is tomorrow and I’m not sure if it’s guaranteed job or not. He needs to be applying for lots more though.
Cheers Magic. The student accommodation is as you described, plus they have a student accommodation village out at Stoke Bishop (?) with a free bus back to uni
I wonder what my parents did to kill boredom before the Internet? I asked my 26 brothers and sisters and they didn't know either.....
Oh my goodness, assessment day today and he got the job!!! Just needs to get two of his three A levels at grades he should achieve. This was his first choice option. He’s going to be an apprentice at Lockheed Martin! #veryveryprouddad Ps. My parenting future is shot though. I told him he hadn’t applied to enough places and needed to pull his finger out and apply to dozens and dozens.
