I’m picking up interesting vibes off line about the double standards being applied by the fan base intelligentsia towards the lads banned after Accrington. Just a reminder - these supporters are amongst our most loyal, long term Selhurst era fans, but are not part of the CL Clique. Perhaps we will read an expose by Rick Everitt in the next VOTV of the double standards on display here by certain Charlton employees? Although knowing the people who have been involved in this shameful incident, I Wouldn’t hold your breath. Appeasing Keohane comes first.
Rick Everitt's CARD has issued a public statement today, describing the club as in "chaos" and ordering fans NOT to buy season tickets for next season. A spokesman for Rick said: "It must now be apparent to everyone, whatever their position over the last 5 years, that the club is in chaos and the owner out of control" Rick continued... "There is no commitment to the staff [classic Rick] and no commitment to the fans. Why would any supporter want to make a financial commitment to Duchatelet in return?" Rick finished the statement by saying CARD are urging the Fans Forum to advise the club not to bring forward any season ticket plans until it has a credible offer to make. Rick said he in effect calling for a "strike that does not impact on the current team".
Praise be that we have Rick to do our thinking for us , I can’t imagine life without Rick telling me what to do ..
I will make up my own mind whether I get a season ticket, or not. People boycotting the Valley has not worked. Fans protesting at the Valley has not worked. More direct action in his own backyard has worked, to a degree. I think that Charlton are in for a really hard time next season. All of our assets will be sold. Players like Aribo will not sign a new contract. We will go into next season with five loans, a number of kids and a few cheap journeymen. RD will still be here looking at more ways to cut costs. A depressing picture.
Rick Everitt can stick his strictures up his arse As @DickPlumb says, fans will make their own individual minds up. Personally I think ST sales this summer will be diabolical.
Good to see CARD Deputy Leader Wing Commander Hayes getting called out for his rank hypocrisy on the CARD/ST thread elsewhere He attends every home game Remember when GruppenFuhrer Rick urged the plebs not to buy STs...only for it to emerge that he had taken advantage of the early renewal discount #TwoPrizeHypocrites
Chris Powell probably said the same thing about Roland when it came to picking the team. It's good to have a mind of your own, unless RD becomes your employer.
Adults telling other adults how to spend their hard earned money is stupid. CARD has tried and failed. Attendances figures will continue to decline because of Roland, not because of CARD, but Roland will blame CARD now.
#mymateboughtitforme Charlton s littlest biggest anti regime actually said that when seen drinking a beer at the valey
CARD's latest feeble demand has predictably attracted a divided response from the fanbase We still seem to have 1% (ITTV) cravenly clinging on to Duchatelet's bottom, with the rest broadly divided between opposed to RD but supporting the team, and boycotting. I can't see what good a suggested march on the Valley would do. It would draw attention to a problem that is already well understood. Nor would it attract the big numbers that previous demos achieved. A protest in front of the live TV cameras on Saturday would seem a good opportunity.
What would the protest be about? 1) Telling the Belgian to sell the Club?... he says he wants to 2) Telling the Belgian to reduce his asking price? … Yes possibly but how would a demo help this? 3) Telling the Belgian that he is running the Club badly? … I think the world (excluding Jim White & Jedez) knows this. 4) Umm?? So what good would a protect do? Except give a certain person a chance to get his megaphone out!
The Belgian says he wants to sell the club, but he clearly doesn’t as he is asking £50m for it. The fact is that the Belgium property graffiti rattled his cage.
The graffiti was perpetrated in Belgium! not Charlton which he doesn't care about. The graffiti affected his friends which seemed to be the thing that really annoyed him.
saying that "let's have a protest just because it is on the cameras" makes as little sense as saying that "knife crime is not affected by Police numbers" Sorry but true
What we should have 'because of the cameras' is plenty of anti-RD chants and songs. Every time there is a short stoppage in play (an injury for instance) the crowd should be letting Roland and the watching millions know what we think of him. Then back to the pro-Charlton chants once play resumes.
I’ve just been reading about the fantastic scenes at Blackpool on Saturday. An estimated 14,000 boycotting fans returned en masse, swelling the Tangerines usual home attendance from 2000 to nearly 16000 I’ve followed the Tangerine Knights & their other protest groups for a couple of years on social media. They are decent humble guys who have remained united and now had thei reward. I fear that we are not going to get the same euphoric response when our equivalent day comes. 3/4 loudmouths will be busy climbing over each other as to “who knew first”, and Everitt will be submitting his customary open letter to the new owner setting out is list of demands (including a role for him of course) Incidentally, I saw Everitt outside the Valley on Saturday in conversation with one of those Duchatelet employees he pompously describes as “the sensible fans at the club” #EverittOut
