Don’t agree with either. Rebounds are all part of the game. What next? No rebounds allowed off of a defensive wall? I don’t have a problem with forwards joining the end of a wall, but what needs to be stopped is the way that they lean into the wall in order to push defenders out of the way.
Person In suit 1 - "what penalty rules have we come up with lately' Person In suit 2 - "erm, stuttering run ups, abba in shootouts, not awarding the away team a penalty at old trafford" Another person in a suit "let's make it look like we actually do something then and bring in a new rule. Either no rebound from a penalty or goal keeper has to have big foam hands" Erm......
Aubameyang would have scored from the rebound on Sunday if Vertongen hadn’t been about 3 yards inside the box when the kick was taken.
I've always said why doesn't the defending team put someone lying down behind the wall on free kicks. That way when the wall jumps, the ball can't go under it. Is that allowed?
That rule killed my team one season. We used to play everything out from the keeper. Everything. Overnight we had to change and it was tough. We went from playing the best “football” to hoof ball as did everyone else.
A referee applying the current rules would stop a lot of things that apparently var is absolutely essential for.
Like all of you, can't see the point of no rebounds off a penalty. I can only imagine that it is to try and suck all life out of the game. Does the ball go dead? If it is a goal kick, the advantage has passed to the offending team surely. Sounds like a new rule invented for the sake of it. Be nice if the lawmakers just said one year....do you know what, the game is pretty perfect, let's just leave it.
The rule change (if it can be called that) introduced that I did like was the one that gave refs little white spray cans. The sight of grown men shuffling to stay behind a line which is apparently made of some high explosive is a joy to behold.
So I'm assuming that if the keeper saves the pen/hits the woodwork and it rebounds back into play it just becomes a dead ball and a goal kick?
The attacking players in the wall is ridiculous . Lets say you have a free kick on the corner of the box 25/30 yards out. Keeper would want a 3 or 4 man wall to stop the shot, but it is also a prime location to dink the ball into the box for an attacking player to attack with their head. You aren't allowed any attacking players in the wall (what is an attacking player? Strikers/Wingers/Centre Mids?) so now 2 of your 3 or 4 in the wall have to be (probably) the fullbacks, the other 2? Your centre backs? So now if they decided to cross you have a winger/striker marking their centre back and it becomes an absoloute clusterfuck. See no benefit to changing that rule at all
Oh wait been an absoloute idiot Won't delete my post for comedy gold and piss taking that I fully deserve
I think it probably means that the team that has the free-kick won't be allowed any players in the wall, not that the defending team can't have 'attacking' players in the wall
