Jnr Monkeys new favourite band - constantly being blasted out of the guitar amps in his bedroom, whole house shakes!
You are bringing him up well mate...saw RATM live when they played Finsbury Park a good few years back.....an amazing energetic night (Gogel Bodello were good too). My 9 year old is into ‘The Specials’ big time at the moment and keeps singing ‘Message to you Rudy’.....from little acorns, eh ?
Following on from my Best Female Singer In A Band post I wondered what decade you thought was best for all-girl groups? I suppose it is fair to include just vocal groups as these are what most people think of. Is it the 80's with Bananarama (not even joking, I thought they were great when they first came out and Keren was my dream woman!) or into the 90's with the Riot Grrl stuff like L7, Babes in Toyland etc. Could be the 70's with The Go Gos, the Runaways etc? For me it has to be the 60s and although Motown gets most of the credit there were some other fantastic groups around at the time

‘The Go-Go’s’ We’re for me the best all female band around.....and Belinda Carlisle looks rather saucy in the video for ‘Our lips are sealed’ So I guess for me the 70’s/80s.
At the moment I’m listening to a Finnish Bluegrass band called ‘Steve ‘n’ Seagulls’ who play covers of various metal and rock songs, including ‘Aces High’ and ‘The Trooper’ by Iron Maiden..... Sounds weird but it’s rather good.
He didn't really have much choice! X Factor and other ****e is banned in our house.....he's only 16, but his gig collection is getting impressive....including The Prodigy a couple of years ago, he's quite gutted about Keiths passing. Off the top of my head, he's seen ACDC, Stone Roses, Arctic Monkeys, Muse, Kasabian, Queen, Aussie Floyd, Tenacious D, Alt J, Libertines, Public Enemy, Gorillaz, Levellers, Leftfield, Idles, Slaves plus a plethora of smaller bands as well as playing over 20 gigs of his own! Fave story about his music education - we went on holiday when he was three, to a resort that had one of these cringey kids clubs - on arrival, the entertainment team came bouncing over to him, stood there with his indie Stone Roses haircut and asked if he'd like to go to the kids disco - his reply......will there be any Arctic Monkeys playing their face was a picture, we were dead proud!! This was one of his favourites as a wee kid....
