southwell,4 25: GLIMPSE OF GOLD has come down to a good mark here,as hes 2 lbr lower than when last successful 2 years ago.even if he wasnt at his best in recent starts, theres a glimmer of hope,he can go well in a seller..
I’m with you it’s all about benny if he wins Saturday there will be no value at the festival. I’m planning on lumping Saturday.
True enough. I was thinking more of egg on the face of the handicapper. As I said in my first post a 6lb rise for his last win looks extremely lenient.
Evening all, The 7.15 at Wolverhampton is a bread-and-butter 9f claimer, but there might just be a speck of Marmite to titillate the palates of the watching millions. Chevallier (Archie Watson/Luke Morris, both of whom have strike rates below 8% over the last fortnight) has been running in C2 and C3 company for the last year; in fact, this time in 2018 he was competing on merit with good horses in the big Mile final on AW Champions Day at Lingfield, and he's been rated at 90 or more ever since. It's a long time since he won, though, and tonight here he is in a C6 claimer at a track where he's never won. What's occurring, as Barney's mates would say ? There seems no doubt he's regressing, and seeing him brought out at Wolves when he's only ever won at Lingfield is puzzling. He ran fourth of six in a C3 at Lingfield only on Saturday, which seems to confirms his decline; but the first five finished in a bit of a heap, so maybe it wasn't that bad. From the money aspect, he's been flitting between 1.9 and 1.8 all day on Betfair, in a market which hasn't been very active at all. No strong views, and probably a race best watched. FWIW, my own opinion is that Archie and the boys reckon this is Payday, and I think he'll probably win, though maybe not easily (you could construct a weights-and-measures case for Los Camachos getting 4 lb and with a 5lb claimer aboard). I'll be backing Chevallier, though not heavily. If there's a ton of money for him while they're at the post, it would be instructive, though.
Or is it last chance saloon and aim to get him off the books? The play in the race for me is for him to beat either the second or third favourite in forecasts. I think the second favourite will set the gallop and pay for it late in the race. Trappy little heat.
Won nicely, yard now 8 from 12 in claimers if I remember what was said pre race. What a run by the outsider in 3rd, very eyecatching in that company
No point asking Oddy, Nass. He knows nothing - just sits brooding in his Eagle's Nest lair in Germany oblivious to the real world. United by a street, probably cobbled.
It wasn’t publicised much because he was hounded ,excuse the pun by the animal. Rights brigade. He had death threats and everything.
Well, considering he had a different public image, not surprising he got hounded , perhaps part of his problems , running with the hares and chasing with the hounds?
