Morning, team. Approximately a week to go then until the forum’s favourite sporting event of the year. I’m sure the excitement and the tension is building as we anticipate the great occasion. Still enough about Dancing on Ice – The Final let’s get back to the horse racing. Nothing for me today but just a quick note about Two Sams who I spoke about a few weeks ago – re looking out for him when he makes his handicap hurdling bow (off just 90). The old boy could do this at Winkers on Thursday, for the Blake barn, in a race the stable won last term with Barney from Tyanee (who isn’t named after me, incidentally). The likes of Harry Fry, Mr Nicholls, Archie Watson and old boy Tizzard all have entries in the race so if he does go (and these do as well) Two Sams could very much be under the radar, so to speak, in the heat. And at the same meeting O Connell Street could finally make his debut, for The Lieutenant, in the closing bumper. This is another I’ve been raving on for a while about given his superb lineage – the dam is a half-sister to 2 Champion Hurdle winners. All eyes on Winkers on Thursday, perhaps, then crew. If you get a spare minute I’d advise the regular readers to have a good look at this pair. Good luck all.
Nice one, your holiness - I'll be keeping 'em peeled. Now .............. Cheltenham Competition ............ There are some idle feckless wastrels out there who are not adding their grist to our mill! On entrants we are somewhere in the region of 30-70% down. It's not as if you won't be studying the cards anyway, and it isn't going to cost you dough, unlike your real life losing bets! So come on you - you know who you are - and so do we!
Wee Danny Skelton looks to have a lot of chances today but the one of his that really catches my eye is SIR MANGAN (3:10) with the yard claimer on taking off the maximum allowance, took 10's earlier. Interested to watch SWAFFHAM BULBECK in the first as it gives me a good line on one I have a sneaky fancy for in the Imperial Cup at the weekend.
Bacon and cabbage soup today. With 2 portions of fries which I poured into the soup to make them go all soggy. Lovely Jubbly 10/10.
hi all! fakenham,2 40: CONAS TOI is a very good and tough stayer, and he can run off the same mark today, which is a big positive,as regarded to his much higher earlier handicap marks.my only doubt is this sharp track, which is totally different to carlisle last week.but if he gets away with that, should run a massive race today, off his low weight..
Can’t remember the last time they had a full field for the race, it’s plummetted a lot in people’s thoughts since the Gaspara and Martin Pipe days
If he wins the Imperial Cup from 8lb wrong he'll get properly clobbered. Much egg on face. He won't be in many handicaps thereafter
Don’t think they’d have a care if he did. The fact they’ve entered him in two races at the festival shows that they think a lot of him.
