I think it's because we have, if anything, over performed and are ahead of schedule on the 'project', which I believe Poch has mentioned before. His brief was root and branch reform of the playing staff and the playing operations of the squad, with everything that entails - mentality, style of play, recruitment, squad composition. He's been broadly successful in this, though you can argue we have taken a step back this year in some regards, but still over his time with us he's accomplished his goals or at least gone a long way towards doing so. Alongside this obviously he was to get us into the CL while we built the new stadium. If we'd come third or fourth and never flirted with the title over the last few years then our exploits this season would be seen in a different light. We also reached a cup final in his first season with us, don't forget, and have come close to doing so again. But because we've had a few moments where it's looked like we could be in the title race, that colours everything that comes after.

To my eyes the brief was to seriously start competing for trophies once we're in the new stadium. That isn't to say that we would never try beforehand, because obviously we have tried as any team of competitive professionals would, but I don't think we expected the success (relative success) to come so quickly. That this year has been a little disappointing in comparison to what has come before, has sparked the disillusionment from fans because like you say, society likes a moan - especially vocal football fans.

There have been bumps along the road but everything has gone pretty well for Poch so far at Spurs, if anything a little too well if we're trying to manage expectations. This year is the first that we're staring down the barrel of what happens if it doesn't go quite so well. Ultimately from where we are now, if we finish top 4 I'm more than happy to write this season down as a successful one and move on to, hopefully, a key summer of recruitment and a full season in our fantastic new stadium.

Absolutely, Poch has improved this side tenfold since taking over but the frustration lies with what's ahead. He/ Levy chose not to strengthen this season and now we're facing a summer of losing two key players along with realising others haven't upped their games and can do with improving on, after all the years of progression, it's looking like we're on the verge of regressing, which is extremely annoying and frustrating especially when there was a window of opportunity to have moved forward.

It may be a coincidence that Kane’s return against Burnley has coincided with Son’s massive dip in form but that doesn’t mean Pochettino can just do nothing.

The Spurs boss must act to find a way to get Son back to his best, whether that means axing him or having him lead the line and put Kane on the bench.

The 26-year-old attacker has proven his worth in recent weeks and if Spurs want any chance of securing a top-four Premier League finish as well as defying the odds in the Champions League, Pochettino needs to get Son back to his best.

DO the middle line Poch and bench Kane, we will start winning again.

I don't think even Nostradamus could have foreseen Utd pulling back 10 points on Spurs in 11 games.
    I'm shocked .
2 from 4 for 2 CL places with Spurs the least in form at present (but with a small points advantage)!

To be honest, it should be more. We've not played well since you stole 3 points off us at Wembley and crocked Kane. Those wins against Fuham, Watford, Newcastle and Leicester were scraped at best.

By our next fixture we should have a fit Kane, Alli and Dier. Yesterday, in the second half, we were playing Danny Rose in central midfield, FFS.

Next week at Saints is a massive game now, they are playing better and will fancy their chances given our current form and we are under pressure to get a win and maintain the gap over the 3 chasing clubs (Utd V Arsenal too next week may also help to maintain the gap).I genuinely think that if we win next week we make the top 4 if we lose its going to be very hard, because its likely we will lose the next match at Anfield too.

It was a mad decision in the 'Sonny as Wing Back' mould. He was a total ****ing liability. We had a chance to win that game and we totally blew it by putting Rose there. It should have been worse. He completely destabilised the team and we bloody nearly lost.

    It's about striking a balance.
The club's revenues have increased massively, but funds seem to have been mainly applied to the funding of the new stadium.
Little money (in relative terms) has been available for transfers.
I'm not sure about wages, but I bet your best players could easily double their earnings elsewhere.
Poch seems to be expected to work miracles with a squad whilst being at an obvious disadvantage to other top managers.
A month ago, it looked as if he was defying the odds; now it looks like it might backfire.
If you finish 3rd (or 4th) and do well in the CL, them what's the problem?
Finish 5th or 6th and fail to get beyond the Q-F of the CL and it looks like an avoidable shooting in the foot.

It could have (or should have) been so much better and now we’re staring regression in the face with the likelihood of two key players leaving in the summer.

There was also money to spend, may not have been City levels, but there was money. Even if it was enough for squad calibre players, with Rose having to play CM yesterday along with this season as a whole of overusing our players and tiring them out, a squad player or two would’ve been just as important as someone of first XI status.

Can anyone explain why Dier was booked for his goal celebration at The Half-Emptyrates, but Ramsey wasn't for his one yesterday?
    There's absolutely no consistency.
