45 minutes to stay in the hunt or be dead and buried.

Time to throw caution to the wind.

Will we see any kind of reaction or go out with a whimper?

Hi Hampy, I am on here after all, and glad we are at least making a go of it, tho hardly recognise our format!

Like others, I am quietly resigned for relegation, less painful and tortuous!

    Another worthless ref.

Swift clearly blocked Bishop's run and doesn't even get a yellow card for it!

Lotta chances today, just no-one to put them away. Big blow, that must be it my friends, as we all thought, admired the spirit and endeavour, but down we go.

Lets all re-group, not judge too harshly, take stock, and try to look forward, and see who is around the ground in 6 months time.

Not surprised, just hope the club take the opportunity to get a head start on planning for next season.

I’d say Chambers also at fault letting the ball run and then misses a golden opportunity at the other end from six yards out. How that player continues to get an easy ride from some Town supporters this season is beyond me. Signing him and Skuse to contracts this summer is not the priority, despite what some would tell you.

As for the game, we looked flat and uninspiring for long periods. With the exception of Pennington, the defence looked rattled far too frequently. Midfield tried hard, but couldn’t make things work. Quaner was completely ineffective up front, but we don’t have any firepower. 20 goals scored this season in the league, and not enough from this strike force. We definitely missed Keane today.

Officiating was strict, but we didn’t help ourselves by conceding silly fouls around the pitch and never widened up to the ref. If he’s blowing his whistle for minimal contact, you adapt your game, you don’t carry on conceding stupid fouls. It completely ruined any momentum in the second half.

Bright spots? Edwards had a good game, Pennington fairly solid and won a lot of high balls. Judge kept trying to make things happen. That aside, it was clear we lacked quality. Harsh reality, but this team is marooned bottom of the table for a reason and has struggled to win games all season. We need a complete overhaul. Question is, should we trust Lambert to do it?

I’ve got to say, all of that is academic when you go with Quaner on his own up front and leave Jackson benched. Edwards who has been out in the cold made an impact as expected. All sadly very predictable.

The glimmer of promise when we turned up and competed in games didn’t amount to anything in the end.

Our form has been nothing short of hopeless since Lambert took charge. Certainly don’t want him to stick around this evening, but my overriding feeling is of anger.

However, we need to be asking questions higher up now.

Regarding the likes of Chambers and Skuse - we need to take very seriously the risk of our best players moving on - so we will be better for keeping on the likes of those two.

Indeed Hampy, bad owners relegate the “bigger” clubs in this division. Evans had overseen a 13 year period where we have had one solitary play off season and gradually declined to our current sorry state of affairs. The flurry of PR-friendly initiatives have been far too late to stem the stench of failure and regression under his ownership.

Mick’s time in charge will be rightfully regarded in a better light, but the owner has made a lamentable series of errors and oversights, as well as a laissez faire business model and lack of investment, which has undoubtedly set this club back years.

Relegation all but confirmed today for anyone still holding out for hope. Such a shame.
