SHANROE SANTOS 11/1 Newbury 2.05 After three defeats the handicapper has relented slightly and given him 2lb back. If you take into account the riders 5lb claim that puts him in here below his last winning mark, I am not a big fan of the boy but he has been doing pretty well of late. Shanroe needs to bring his A jumping game and needs to not get too far behind but under todays conditions he looks value to me at the price. The yards last four runners have all won and Tissier was on board two of them.
This makes me even more confident Sticko, fancied Copper Gone West yesterday like you and this was my main selection today, hopefully can go one better than Copper!
Also think Cyrus Darius is a ridiculous price at 16/1 in the 3:10, think it will at least place dropping down in grade. Has a 100% record in class 3's
Cyrius Darius is one of the horses that left Ruth Jeffersons to go to more experienced trainers when her Dad passed away. He joined Tizzard and had a wind op. His first run was full of promise his two runs since have smacked of a regressive animal. I like the horse but no way could I back him until he shows a good deal of improvement. Down in rating and down in grade but not for me. Good luck Chelsea.
Stable form has put me off Abolitionist today but looking for a good prep for the GN from the old boy today
Decided on him last night Chelsea when looking at this race. Unibet have just gone 18s. I 'll hold on for an hour or so to see what the best price is..it might go to 20s. I reckon it has taken the Tizzards a while to get to the bottom of this horse. He s still entered for the festival, is down in grade, has Robbie Power up top, Tizzards are in good form so definitely worth an each way play..I can see a big run. Obvious danger is Crooks Peak and there could be plenty more to come from him.
Valdez is a horse I really liked as a novice chaser (several years ago now - I remember backing both him and Dodging Bullets in the Arkle won by Western Warhorse. Fate was subsequently kinder to Dodging Bullets) and it was great to see him back racing last season. After unseating in the Grand Annual and then pulling up on seasonal debut, one might have thought connections would consider drawing stumps. But they persevered and he ran an encouraging fourth at Ascot just before Christmas, shaping as though today's extra furlong should suit. All the while his handicap mark has been tumbling from a high of 153 and he goes off 142 today. With not many miles on the clock he can hopefully step forward today. 2.40 Newbury Valdez 12/1
Le Torrent is certainly e/w value at 6/1 in the Lingfield 5.0. Unbeaten on a/w over 2 miles, only 3lb higher than last win, will have also come on from that winning run.
Tizzard was interviewed during the week and mentioned CD saying tney were very dissapointed with his form since they got him. Not sure as its from memory now but stomach ulcers or meds for that may of been mentioned too.
From his festival factfile article on Sporting Life (you can find a link in the main Cheltenham Thread):
Good morning crew Nothing particularly interesting for me so just going with my comp entries plus Bordeaux Bill in the first at Donny Getaway Trump must surely smash this today but not a working man's price. Not that I AM a working man! My predictive text changed Dolos to Do Lose .... hope that's not an omen
Doing the following bets today: Newbury 2.05pm Caroles Destrier 11/2 ew 4 places. Has been in good form this season and runs well at the track. Newbury 3.10pm Crooks Peak 3/1. Also an each way saver on Cyrus Darius 18/1. The favourite looks an improver and could win this convincingly having hit the line with a bit to spare last time out. Just have a sneaky suspicion Cyrus Darius could be coming to form though so worth the play at the odds. Good luck all.
Thanks for the heads up guys but just have a feeling horse could be coming to hand...and with festival entries big run possible here..
