Keane is a good player but crocked. I wouldn't sign him. Judge would be a massive signing for Town. I think Jackson and Donacien will be moved on - Woolfy and Lankester have to play a big part next year. Whatever we do I hope it's not four or five loans again.
I don't think Lambert rates either Nsiala or Donacien, certainly not the latter, so I wouldn't be surprised if they both get offloaded next season. Dozzell will most likely be sold off to any Premier League or Championship side willing to spend a few million on him. I hope we'd have a new left-back in the first team role, as I question Kenlock's ability and consistency. Bishop and Downes will likely feature regularly, injury or interest from a Championship club permitting. Chambers will get a new contract and will be a first team regular, ditto Keane and Judge if they are willing to both play third tier football and take a pay cut. I think one of Jackson or Harrison would be sold, if we get any interest. I think it'll be a vastly different starting eleven come first match of the next season.
Actually, thinking about it, you're probably right...Donacien will go (but think Harrison will stay). Forgot about both Wolfy and Lanky
Books require balancing. I'll expand on this a little further if we go down ( so I will expand on this a little further ) however we have to take the following into the equation for 19/20 in league 1 - Below is a little overview from what I understand things to be. * Wage bill = £18 million. * Turnover = £17 million. * Media income = £8 million. * League 1 regulations require 75% of first season of turnover- with this reduced to 60% in the following years if still in League 1. In that first year grace period, all players signed in the summer alone before I believe are excluded from the calculated total ( so Hurst's pile ) and fortunately for us, considering we have a lot of talented youth players - any youth player U20 DOESN'T count either - think Downes / Dozzell / Lankester + co - so that's very helpful. Then we have players out of contracts / loans to factor in. Essentially, our media income is about to drop from £8 mill to £1 - 1.5 mill. I will be generous and suggest it'll be £1.5 mill - so that's a £6.5 mill loss from revenue straight off the bat. We then - to comply - can play at 75% of £10.5 mill ( turnover down £6.5 mill ) = £7875000 When you look at this, we've essentially got to cut our wage bill from £18 mill down to just below £8 mill. That's over a 50% reduction........... Some people seem to think we MAY have wage cut relegation clauses in various players contracts, but I VERY MUCH doubt Bart or a big earner would agree with this - he's going to be very difficult to shift potentially. Be fascinating to see how the hell we play this, as clearly we require players in various positions also! I think in conclusion, we're going to HAVE to sell one or two promising youngsters whether we like this or not. We don't really have many salable assets. Dozzell if he's not going to do much or get in the team, christ take the ££££ and run for a start.
- only player wages are included, not general staff or Directors. - as you mention permanent signings made in the summer or prior to that and on a three year contract will be exempt and not included in the calculation and not just for the first year - but of course if we were in League One for a couple of seasons then when that player re-signs he would have to take a wage cut. Bart falls into this category so that's a million straight away to knock off the calculation. - transfer payments in count as turnover (transfer money spent doesn't reduce that sum), as and when it's received so if last summer's fees are being paid over let's say three years then that's another £3-£4m to knock off the figure. - Evans can put money in to make up any shortfall if he chooses, there are no regulations to prevent him doing that. So with all that considered, in terms of the calculation it doesn't look like it will be an issue. But we are still going to be losing something like £5m of income, which means Evans is likely to cut costs regardless of the salary cap.
http://www.financialfairplay.co.uk/scmp.php One for another day - still - will be interesting to see what happens. Lets beat Reading, stay up then we can ignore
Well done Westy that's a great bit of work, and when you factor in that admission prices will have to fall ( nobodies going to pay over £ 30 to watch 3rd division football ) therefore season ticket prices will also have to fall and the number of season ticket holders will also fall as not everyone wants to watch lower league football. When you add the loss of revenue from the variables to the known losses from the constants it gets bloody frightening.
We might see a makeshift centre forward at some point tomorrow.. My guess would be someone like Toto being thrown up top when we're inevitably needing a goal late on.
The engine he had, great tackler, great passer of the ball. For me he was a master at full back and he didn’t look out of place in midfield either. For a couple of years the best and most consistent player at the club after Dozzell left for me.
Considering our lack of options up front, I think that’s a good line up. Bit concerned about lack of bite up top, as Mike says, but Judge, Bishop, and Nolan pushing forwards should hopefully create chances. I’m glad Collins is back in the team.
5 4 1 diamond ..... my days that looks an “ interesting “ system to say the least - be interested to hear what this is like in reality to anyone going.
Absolutely no chance with Quaner the sole striker. And unfortunately this kind of idiocy is exactly why we’re getting relegated.
