Ugghh not the Jenson v Lewis thing again, it always pops up when Jenson heads Lewis in the standings, but when its the other way around everyone goes quiet. They're both great world champions and get on well at McLaren, lets look forward rather than backwards because that's what F1 is all about.
Well they both had to retire while in second place, Hamilton's other was when he was in fourth place, Button's other was after two laps so it is impossible to say where he could of finished. So it is hardly a difference between how costly their DNF's were. If you compare the time while they have both been driving for Mclaren Hamilton has one more win than Button, they have both scored the same amount of podiums, and Button has had two more DNFs that were not his fault than Hamilton. So I would say they are pretty even.
listen it is a fact that lewis has beat jenson twice as many times since becoming team mates.he has also outqualified him many more times. and last season lewis got 2 more dnfs and still finished the season with 26 more points. this season is hamiltons worst, and buttons best at mclaren, and lewis is only 3 points behind. lewis will definatly finish the season stronger than button, and finish the season with more points again.just watch and see.
A lot of problems on the parabolica... Schumacher - Button.. Surprised with Mercedes and Mclaren, looking very good ahead of Saturday.
Hamilton is only 3 points behind because Button has had two retirements which were not his fault, without them he would of been 25/30 points ahead of Hamilton.
and button hasnt had retirements that werent his fault? face it button has been the better driver this year
If you want a Button v Hamilton thread piss off and make a new one, I am fed up with people hogging this universal thread..... get lost.
but lewis has finished in higher positions than button in twice as many races.and so what if the dnfs were his fault or someone elses.they still have 2 this season, and lewis had 2 more last season.why didnt button finish the season with more points when his team mate failed to finish 2 more races? fact is lewis will still finish the season with more points than button. if you really look closely at the stats they tell the whole story. last season button beat lewis 5 times and 4 of those times was when lewis got a dnf. last season the got 6 dnfs between them and lewis was ahead in the race in 5 out of those 6 races at the time. and everyone knows about the difference in quali. this season they both have 2 dnfs, and this is hamiltons worst season and buttons best at mclaren, yet lewis is only 3 points behind jenson with 7 races left.and after sundays race lewis will have more points than button again.button has driven to the best of his abilty this season and lewis has been at his worst, thats the only reason why its close.it doesnt mean lewis wont finish the season strongly tho.
I really can't be arsed to carry on this anymore because you use faulty/made up stats, make false assumptions, fail to recognise the difference between a DNF where you crash and one where it is not your fault, ignore relevant points, and it has become extremely boring. So goodbye.
You can always tell a debate is going downhill when people resort to physic predictions. As for the rest of what you posted. 1) It is important with DNFs to distinguish who was at fault. Only non fault DNFs can be bad luck. (last year it was 2-2 this year Button has retired twice through no fault of his own, while both of lewis's were crashes. 2) 2010 statistics have nothing to do with who is driving better this year (Button). Last year was actually a pretty good year for Lewis (dragging the 3rd best car to title contention) while Button's season was merely OK (Some very disapointing drives sprinkled across his season) , but using your Best/Worst year comparison we can discard it yes?
Anyone else alarmed by how fast Vettel was on a heavier fuel load? Over a second quicker than the McLarens with race fuel (reputedly) on board.
They supprised me at spa which is why im not supprised today. Red Bull have been saying Newey has worked hard on high speed configurations whichis why they were so happy in belgium and sent adrian to the podium.
Newey deserves a pay rise then. They were nowhere at this race 12 months ago, now the world champ is making the rest of the field look like amatuers. I don't think it's just the car. How can the large gap between the RBR drivers be explained?
