I agree but imo the if is a stretch too far. I can forgive the **** year at his French club while waiting to come to us. but his attitude at Wolfsburg where he was playing for future stunk. he's seemingly pit a bit of effort in after not doing so for 2 or 3 years and next thing klopp gives him a chance... can he learn from it? I don't know guys ever do really. he did ok, worked up and down line and scored a goal last night... but.. I dunno.. I just don't see him changing for good.
He does have attributes for sure. I struggle to see him above a bottom 6 club though in the long run though. Maybe in another league.
To be fair to Origi - he’s either playing with the fringe team or getting 10-15 mins. I thought he had a good game yesterday and hopefully he can build on it. Don’t see him lasting past the summer but he could be useful. I think he has contributed to 11 goals in last 18 appearances - which is very good.
I think the year he was left on loan Lille really didn't help as their fans turned on him and he knew his future was already sorted. Almost worry if Keita had a similar problem of letting his standards drop then struggling to regain them.
One good striker would increase depth even if those lot left! I'm not sure if we get one new top quality striker, is Woodburn good enough for 3rd in line?
I think he's a decent player and I was impressed with him yesterday but he's never going to be a regular for us. People moan that we lack creativity but then moan when someone (Origi) tries something and loses possession. You can't have both.
tbh...and the Welsh lads won't be happy with me... no not really. Wilson's scored spectacular goals but he's not really dominated or looked a class above at derby.
Just watched Pat Nevin's review on VVD. He claimed or defensive improvements over recent seasons is purely down to him. But he declined to mention that our back five at the start of this season were all different to the start of last season... 2017-18; Migs/Karius, Clyne, Lovren, Matip & Moreno/Milner. 2018-19; Alisson, TAA, Gomez, VVD & Robbo Not to mention Fabinho now playing instead of Can (he wasn't playing at the start of this season though)
no.. not quite. the reality is he's not a Kante or fernandinho. he is however a big tall lad whos well able for the prem and is a real.midfielder which means getting in ball and influencing game not just kicking players.. vvd is best cb in Europe and one of top 3 in the planet. fabinho is good but he's not that and not even close to it.
vvd was imperious last night but alisson still made 2 really good saves and was unflappable. taa made one error which was to be a lazy runner leading to a big watford chance... otherwise was brilliant. Robertson was more quiet but worked very hard Matip stood up to the battering too. it's clear vvd is brilliant. it's also clear alisson has had a huge impact over and above where we were at last March, April and May. they all contribute. gomez.will improve us again.
I just find it amusing that only VVD gets credit in the media when we've actually got a entirely new defence
it's shallow thinking. but it is like watching one of the greatest in our history building his legend so they go for that as it sells.
