And it works both ways to be fair, I'm sure clubs are telling managers and players how great they are and are a perfect fit for the club to get them to sign but then they sell or sack when it suits.

Yes, there are a few managers and players who have a genuine affinity and love for a club but not many, the rest of it is PR bull.

At this moment in time it's a suitable fit for both parties, how well it works out and how long it lasts, only time will tell.

Regardless of the industry people will always look after number 1. And what more can Rodgers do, yes im surprised he left now. Perfect time to walk would have been the summer as there is nothing more for him at Celtic. Its a shocking league you win easily for a few more years. Your team isnt Premier League standard and gets shown up in Europe

Rangers demise was the worst thing that could happen to both Celtic and the SPL. There was no competition to push Celtic to improve. Your a big fish in a tiny pond. You may see us as a mid table club but the standard is much much higher. We reached the quarter finals in the Champions League while you cant get out the groups and past the 2nd round of the Europa

Rodgers hasnt been given the tools and Celtic lack competition and ambition to be able to change that

Managers and players talk **** which is a spin from the clubs PR manager. I wouldnt pay any attention to interviews

Nothing like gratitude for the titles and all of the trophies won....and that is nothing like it! Classy from Celtic that.

    It begins <laugh>

    Yesterday:
"The lads were in awe listening to him. He’s said he’s only come here to work with this group of players and that speaks volumes about this group of players."

    Today:
"Leicester will give Brendan Rodgers a £200m transfer kitty with Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson top of his list."

:emoticon-0111-blush I believe, in Ireland, there used to be a saying (& for good reason at the time) - "Never trust the smile of an Englishman". Rodgers is now Ireland's revenge - he's even whitened his choppers to make it more pronounced ... David Brent, eat your heart out!

PS: £200m eh … you're fortunate he didn't bring Lee Congerton with him - he seems to have a special talent for wasting money on duds! :emoticon-0105-wink:

We're very, very used to having managers with that 'talent'! Luckily, our owners seem to be able to afford it though. However, we have unearthed a few real gems amongst all of the dross although those were found by scouting staff and (I think) merely given the nod by whoever was manager at the time.

David Brent - Oops ... Brendan Rodgers on his love for the Club
"Like I say, Celtic's been in my veins since I was in the womb. Most babies kick at random during the gestation period, but I was painstakingly recreating Stevie Chalmers' goal against Inter Milan in the 1967 European Cup Final HH."

    On Flexibility
"Like I say, I've always believed in an attacking philosophy. That manifests itself in relentlessly attacking domestic teams and relentlessly attacking anyone who suggests I should adopt a more pragmatic approach to stop us getting pumped by six or seven goals in Europe HH"

    On Leicester's Teeth-Whitening Circuit
"Like you say, it's one of the best teeth-whitening scenes in the East Midlands, and their tanning salons are second to none HH"

    On Setting Records
"Like you say, I hear the fans singing 'Brendan Rodgers is here for 10-in-a-row'. I understood what they were getting at, but I always thought 'seven-and-a-half-in-a-row' had more of a ring to it HH"

Ben Chilwell has said the appointment of Rodgers means he is more likely to stay here long term.

Clearly Claude was extremely disliked by the players

I read it as Rodgers appointment has shown the players that the club shares their ambition and are willing to stay and improve.

If we'd kept Puel, think that one transfer request in the summer would have lead to a domino effect.

In fairness and balance, Ben also spoke very highly of Puel pretty recently. Doesn’t hurt to be positive, shows him as a good egg but to suggest he disliked Puel is selective of his interviews to say the least.
I hope young players will stick around and Rodgers is a bigger name. It doesn’t need to be a stick to beat Puel with though, yes it didn’t work but Rodgers has a young, potential filled squad to take over due to Puel doing the dirty work. The fruits of his labour will be clear in the long run even though he failed on the pitch when it mattered for his own future here

He is always going to while he is in charge. You get going to have a pop at the manager

Bar Maddison no one said anything on twitter about him or in the media. Players have stuck the knife in like Iborra and Huth. It wasnt a happy camp under Puel. Rodgers seems to have lifted the cloud that had followed us around for about a year

While Puel certainly helped the younger player it wasnt him who built the squad. Ricardo, Diabate and Ghezzal was his only signings. Maddison, Soyuncu and Benkovic was done by the recruitment of the club and all the other players was already here

And by the sounds of it not for too much longer had Claude remained

End of the day he did the dirty work that needed doing, turning the squad from an aging one that had achieved the dream and lacked desire to a young, hungry side. He didn’t know how to make it work on the pitch and it feels exciting having a new chapter but to stick the knife in is poor form from the players. Only the most deluded could claim Rodgers doesn’t have a more exciting job to come into as a result of Puels work, tbh without what Puel has done we may have been fishing in the Pardew pond. Puel did much of the good work this time round that Pearson did before but without the success on the pitch. His work will be recognised going forwards but some will always try and deny him of it

We are certainly building Rodgers up on this thread. I hope the players don't continue their misfiring in front of goal in the next couple of games (which just possibly might not have been Puel's fault) or it will be "Rodgers out!" before you knowit.

Who told you this? Did anyone give you the "Big picture"?

Scraps from a tabloid are unreliable at best and unless you have a grasp of the whole story or insider knowledge better than an average Celtic fan then I'm afraid to tell you that you should - as Espana Celt says - be very wary.

Well clearly you do have a lack of ambition as you wont spend anything and rely on taking loan from “mediocre” clubs

The Scottish Pub League is a joke. Celtic can do whatever they want and they will win the league. Thats how bad it is

According to John Percy. Jamie Vardy wanted out aswell if Puel remained

Brendan Rodgers has told Jamie Vardy he is the main man and he will help him on how to play against the teams who play deep and we will give him better service and play a better style of play

You've pretty much replied as I expected. The sort of stuff I can read on the BBC comments section or hear on Talk Sports. That's not a compliment.

Clearly we have "a lack of ambition"? A repeated statement based on nothing much at all as I said, the fact you have not fleshed out your earlier version of the same accusation tells me you simply don't have a clue about Celtic, Brendan Rodgers or the dealings and sub-plots which have transpired over the last few months at Celtic.

I'm also willing to bet you've never seen any Scottish football, certainly not enough to make an informed critique, this bothers me not at all, as I said, I'm used to this level of ignorance.
