Heads up chaps - festival handicap weights published today so I will try and get threads up for all the handicaps over the next couple of days (workload permitting)
Very slow on the daily thread today...so much so I m going yo have to talk about the weather. . Rain is on the way folks for tomorrow, Friday night and potentially some heavy patches on Saturday and possibly a bit on Sunday. This is most welcome for the festival and therefore the message for Claisse has to be " don't roll out all those sprinklers just yet!' I see more news about Blaklion. A decision will be made over his potential next target in the next few days. It looks more likely he will skip the festival and head straight to Aintree. Does anybody know what plans are for Singlefarmpayment? I don't see him in any festival entries now and he is usually a regular. Just happens to be a favourite of mine as I m a sucker for a horse that travels powerfully on the bridle. He does have an entry for Aintree so maybe he plans to go straight there. Interesting off 10 stone 2 and I 'll always remember him running in the Hennessy a few years ago...staying on but falling at the last or 2nd last maybe? Was eye catching for me that and maybe has a chance if in the big un in April!
28 entries for stick to get stuck into in the bumper https://www.racingpost.com/racecards/11/cheltenham/2019-03-13/722087
hi fellas! musselburgh,2 40: none of the fancied ones here has bomb-proof recent form, but THE VERY THING gets a narrow vote,in the hope,he can progress more than the other two,and has already handicap experience, which might stand him in good stead, back in novice company..
Entered for the Ultima Handicap on the Tuesday of the festival and allotted 10-10. He might get in off that mark (currently number 42 with max 24 allowed). Only other entry is for the Grand National.
musselburgh,3 45: a re-match between ELMONO and just minded, who were first and second here at the beginning of the year, and though the former has gone up 4 lbr for that, his win was much easier than the winning margin suggests,so he might confirm the form today.
This probably will not win but so long as I make a good case for it the result is immaterial. SACRED SPRITE 50/1 (fifty) Kempton 6:30 Only had the one start in what looked a pretty decent 10f Lingfield novice stakes race. The first two were some way clear and hailed from the Fanshawe and Gosden yards. Sacred Sprite was 4th only 3/4 L behind Queen Of Paris. Sacred Sprite was some way back when the front two quickened away and with all chance gone was a given what one might call a nice introduction. The sectional improved all the way to the line and the winner was not increasing its advantage although hard ridden in a tight finish. This evening there is an extra two furlongs to cover which looks perfect. Todays opposition is basically a bunch of hurdlers having a blow out, probably having recently been boosted! I am not saying they wont be trying but they hardly represent scary opposition. The runner up on his debut run has since won a handicap off a mark of 87 but slightly more of interest is the fact that Queen Of Paris on next outing was only 1.5L behind Twist. Twist runs in this race this evening and is third favourite at 13/2. Sacred Sprite receives 12lbs from Twist tonight so even without guessing at improvement the strict formline would give Sacred Sprite a massive chance of beating him. Worth a dabble and at the odds you dont need to break the bank. Best of luck.
Sound reasoning stick But why are you bothering with the low grade stuff when the bumper entries are out? Let me know what you think of Liz Doyle’s entry Barnes des Mottes
Was pretty much gifted the race on debut and the runner up has let the form down rather badly since. Easily dismissed for me.
