You politically not wanting to be in the EU has no relationship to what other people who voted to leave want. So if thats why you're certain then you've made a mistake.
Just brought my wife home from a 6 1/2 hour stint at the hospital, where she was receiving two units of blood to combat anaemia, brought on by chemotherapy. I have nothing but respect for how the front line staff, the nurses, just carry on in the face of adversity. My wife’s blood was ordered for 08.00, so her 09.00 appointment would go smoothly. It finally arrived at 09.40. The hand held scanning device, for checking the right person was receiving the right fluid, wasn’t working, so time was wasted looking for another that did. The machine that regulates the flow of blood/liquid packed in halfway through, as one did yesterday during the chemo session, and yet they just carry on, with a kind word, an apology and a smile, as if nothing has happened, dealing with tetchy patients and/or their partners who just want to get out ASAP. Just give them the funding they deserve.
Dont be so silly, the ref was an individual choice for everyone. My reasons will not be the same as yours or anyone else for that matter but please do not patronise me by saying it was a mistake and respect i have a different view. Why is that so hard?
Don't be silly, its a collective choice. That's what a vote is. Your individual reasons don't matter, you voted for what the country collectively decides leave means. If that's different to what you thought it meant then that's being mistaken. Doesn't mean you were mistaken in wanting to leave. Those are two different arguments.
I respect your right to your own opinion. But I would prefer key decisions on the country’s future to be based on informed decisions, taken not by an ill informed public, but by our elected leaders.
Although I agree with you and I posted at the time Dave offered the bloody referendum* this same view, I am beginning to wonder if our elected leaders could even organise the pi55 up i want for my 50th, in a brewery. * and as an aside, I got shot down right royally for having that view
They could, but you should have let them know about it 3 years ago to start planning and let them know that there is no extension on the date.
“I am beginning to wonder if our elected leaders could even organise the pi55 up i want for my 50th, in a brewery.” In answer to that question, the Government has, in the event of a No Deal Brexit, given DHL a contract to bring medical supplies over from Belgium. You may recall that DHL was the supplier who took over the delivery of stock to KFC shops, causing many to run out of stock and close until supplies did eventually arrive. Not sure that we can run that level of risk with lives/quality of life at stake.
Another triumph for Grayling. Despite warnings, four years ago, he split the probation service, with private companies monitoring those considered medium to low risk. In the last four years, probationers being monitored by the private companies have killed 225 people, whereas the higher risk probationers, still monitored under the original system, have killed 142. https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/criminals-monitored-probation-contractors-kill-14056637
Clearly all votes are aggregated thats how the system works. A vote is an individual right, the rssult is collective tbe isdue here is that posters are saying i made a mustake. I'm saying i didnt.. Given there were only two options. Individual reasons do matter.
Grayling being there is not a "Tory issue" as such. He would be well down the pecking order right at the rear of the back benches if it weren;t for the fact that he is dictator May's best mate and her campaign manager. Even Tory members slate him. It is what it is though. May, like Corbyn, keep their mates in their jobs no matter what they say or do.
He is the worst minister in post war political history though Imps. No amount of deflecting attention towards Corbyn is going to take that title away from Failin Grayling.
The collective reasons of everyone in the country matter, including those of remain, not the individual ones. What the leave option is is decided by these reasons. This is why you can't be certain of what you voted for and are factually mistaken if you believe you were/are. It's an important distinction that those who say leave means leave don't seem to understand. Edit: also you are somewhat mistaken in there being two options as the level of the vote changes the outcome. With leave being an umbrella for several options that could be chosen between depending on the level of the leave vote and the reasons behind that vote higher leave vote meaning a harder brexit. It was never presented as a single plan, as much as it should have been.
No argument there. I was merely stating that he is at the top of a list of many (shadow and government) that are kept in position by their leaders or cliques within parties. Not trying to deflect. Grayling finishes bottom of most ConHome "positive/negative" surveys bucking a trend that normally sees Brexiteers do reasonably well. It's like one of Gordon Ramsey's shows where the failing restaurant has a useless chef that has been in position for years "because he has always been here."
No way will that stick. History has showed us that there's many layers in the shield of a president, and he'll be more oily than the last 15.
