I don't know why but Dortmund have always been my favourite (sorry favorite) German football team, they produce a good atmosphere at 'The temple of the yellow wall' and I was suprised they were such a low seed in the CL draw.

Me too actually, 1 word..... Lars Ricken ( er two). I will forever remember watching that goal as a kid and thinking how awesome it was he literally stepped on the field and cool as you like, chipped the keeper. Cracking team that was.

"Maradona was dominantly left-footed, often using his left foot even when the ball was positioned more suitably for a right-footed connection"

Yes, one footed you clueless scouse clown.

Yes I saw Suarez at Ajax, in a very poor league comparable to the SPL. Great he can score against small teams but give him a full season before jizzing all over the place about him.

I know Rooney is a world class player. Any honest football fan will tell you so, not people like you who put your hatred for him ahead of realising his brilliance. Tell me one pundit, manager or player who reckons Rooney isn't a great player. Proof only.

Rooney is very good premiership player, but there is loads of good premiership players ie Frank Lampard, Stewart Downing, Antonio Valencia, Nani. However they have all one thing in common, none of them are world class, have never been world class or will ever be world class.

There is nothing that Rooney does that makes people jump out of their seat, okay he scored an over-head, so did Peter Crouch, okay he can score free-kicks, so can Charlie Adam.
However I can name Rooneys weaknesses that prevent him from being named with the world class players.

He has a tendency to disappear when the going gets tough, he has no left foot, he has no composure, and his touch at times can be very heavy. He has some skill but its very limited, he would not in any shape or form have the same level of skill as Luis Suarez. However Luis Suarez has still to fulfill his potential.

He's not in the world class bracket yet, but he has the potential to be world class.
Sorry Rooney on the other hand will never be world class. Will he remain a top premiership player?, without question. Will he ever enter the world class bracket? Not in a million years.

The first CL final I ever watched. <ok> And Paul Lambert getting that cross to K-H-Riedle's head and keeping Zidane in his back pocket.

    Check out the music...

Liverpool were pretty good then too..................................

You clearly have an agenda with me don't you? 4 threads now is it? All because I made you look like a complete, no nothing **** on all the others, you still have to pick arguments with me.

Last 4 years, Aguero 95 goals in 192 games. Rooney 88 goals in 176 games. Very similar records though Rooney has done it at the highest level in the Champions League, in the best league in the world and plus up until 2 years ago he wasn't even United's main target man. Mainly deployed out on the left hand side of a 3 pronged attack with Ronaldo and Tevez.

Regarding Rooney playing in attacking midfield. Of course this has only been mentioned recently because when Tevez and Ronaldo were at the club he played in a different position. Rooney can play as an out and out striker, main striker and yes he could play in an attacking midfield role. He is flexible in what position he can play.

Show me where I claimed Rooney can hit EVERY pass inch perfect. More often than not he can which again is something that Silva does not have in his game.

If you claim Rooney is in the top 5 players in the world why are you arguing with me? It shows you have an agenda against me which stems from the other threads where I made you look like a cock.

Warning to all - I'm going to close this thread soon if it keeps descending into flame wars, personal insults and ad hominem attacks. No one's ever going to agree on who the 5th best player in the world is, just like no one's ever going to agree who the best player is, so try to keep it civil and focus on the players rather than each other...

Are you going to close the thread because some people have disagreed with Man United fans who claim Wayne Rooney is world class. Its our opinion that he isn't in the same way its their opinion that Andy Carroll is useless. I also disagree with that opinion.

Don't let KPR come out, it is because it is getting tedious. There is disagreeing, then there is name calling because you don't disagree that is what Swarbs is talking about.

Carroll is not Rooney's class yet anyway, hopefully he will improve and go on to great things but right now, not even close.

No, I'm going to close it if people keep making comments like this:

I'm pretty sure we can debate who we think is better without resorting to childish insults....

As i said yesterday, i believe Mesut Ozil is better than rooney and friends. Brilliant for both club and country. Was great at Bremen too, when he wasn't surrounded by talent.

    The answer is Wayne Rooney.

I find it hard to believe people dont rate rooney considering he is the best player at the 2nd best team in the world.
