Cue @Hoddle Is A God update that Brenda will take them down :)

its a shame Brenda has gone to Lesta as I had him down to replace Poch when he goes to Real Madrid in the summer. Spurs will have to go for Benitez instead :)

  3. Rodgers was okay for 'Pool, and he may be okay for Leicester .

I'm going to maintain a watching-brief, on this one, before passing judgement.

It's never wise to rush in with rash predictions. I never have, and I don't intend to start now.

I think that he deserves better owners than Ashley - so do The Toon tbh

No reasonable Newcastle fans would blame Benitez for walking. Hell, we would if we could.

The guy is a class act and still capable of doing a job for a top tier club. I think that boat may have sailed though, oddly enough I suspect Tottenham (or Arsenal) would be a good fit. I don't think he'd have them winning the title but I think he'd have them doing as well as they are now. Just speculation though of course and I honestly think there'd be a fan backlash from fans of either club as they believed they deserve better.

He hasn't been for the last decade and i don't see that changing.

I really don't believe there has ever been any intention to do so.

I don't think that there'd be a backlash from our fans, though the style of football could be an issue in the longterm.
Benitez is a good, proven manager. He's won trophies pretty much everywhere he's been.
If Pochettino were to leave, then I wouldn't complain about Benitez replacing him, though I'd have to suggest a new exercise and beard routine.

I didn't see a huge amount of his football at Liverpool but I don't recall it being defensive particularly. Torres, Gerrard, Xabi Alonso, etc. It was very technical and not full on attack but i suspect it wasn't a million miles away from how Tottenham play now; he uses pretty negative tactics with us but well we're **** so you would. As for Real Madrid well he probably just suggested some defensive drills one day and that was the end of him.

He strikes me as a manager who cuts his cloth accordingly. Anyway, I don't think any big clubs are going to come sniffing, they would have by now. My only worry was when Spain sacked their manager suddenly before the world cup as he would have clearly been a perfect fit - really dodged a bullet there.

  12. Benitez could be good for us.

Imagine the meltdown if he won the title with us!

I think that Silva's form at Everton could've been an issue for you, if it wasn't Everton.
I don't think that Benitez would join them, as he's still clearly very well thought of at Liverpool and wouldn't want to spoil that.
It's possibly that Arsenal could go in for him if Emery screws it up, but I think he'd have to make a right mess to get sacked soon.

Unless it's changed recently he still lives in Caldy (on the Wirral) not far from me so Everton was a realistic proposition I reckon. Would have been very convenient and the rivalry isn't particularly vitriolic, most Liverpool fans I know wouldn't have disliked him for it so long as he said something about wanting to spend time back in the part of the country he loves the most (and it is!).

He had Suarez. In the same way that AVB had Bale. Once those players left both managers were exposed for what they are.
