I agree with your conclusion, Oslo. May's rather poor deal looks increasingly attractive against the other options which cannot find a Parliamentary majority. If the EU time limited the backstop, I think May's deal would get through Parliament and everyone on both sides of the Channel would have certainty. But I don't think May will ever get her deal through with that indefinite backstop. A UK government cannot bind future UK governments in perpetuity.
Not in their election manifesto though - when they split the UKIP vote by saying they would see Brexit through. I can't see them recovering from this in Leave supporting areas. -sorry just seen the further posts!
I think the potential damage to the Labour vote in backing a new referendum is being overstated. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2018/may/29/labour-mps-fear-brexit-voters-unfounded-study https://www.theguardian.com/politic...100-pro-leave-constituencies-switch-to-remain https://www.theguardian.com/politic...abour-seats-back-second-referendum-study-says All from the Guardian, so safe for Ellers to ignore.
Stroller you believe this Guardian rubbish which is all about the London elite. A remoaner paper that is so out of touch with the normal bloke on the street. I will listen to the joe Bloggs labour supporter from up north on the radio that says the opposite.
You are correct bc. over 100 labour seats voted to leave. Some with huge leave majorities. Only this morning call after call on the radio from Labour supporters said they have been betrayed and would not vote Labour. Stroller may paint a propadgenda picture from the Guardian but in reality they won't be getting into power for years.... even with a crap Tory party. Once again Comedy Corbyn has made a stupid mistake. Maybe he got Abbott to do the maths?
I know all about opinion polling Stroller, and after the referendum result maybe you would have taken it with a large pinch maybe?
If you look at the conclusions from the polling reported in the Guardian, you will see that surveys suggest that a majority in all Labour seats support another referendum and that more than 100 constituencies have switched from Leave to Remain. With Remain about 8 points ahead in nationwide polling, I don't think the Labour stance will prove unpopular at all.
you talk rubbish Stroller and you couldn't even accept what I said in my last post... (which by the way is fact). You are a full time 'remoaner' who won't listen. If you want to believe that rubbish, then do so but like the referendum you will end up disappointed.
Sorry Strolls but I disagree.....personally I think many in the far left who bought in to the Labour dream when Corbyn was voted in as leader will feel totally betrayed and look elsewhere. I include myself in that.
Class War beckons Stainsey. As we have said before, any serious hard lefter would be 100% in favour of a definitive exit from the EU. And NATO. just because it contradicts what you want the world to look like Ellers doesn’t make it rubbish, nor does it justify the tone of your response. Going to tell us about your German encounter?
oh gosh the remoaners are all coming out! Let me explain Sb.... Stroller posted polls from a remain paper and told me "I don't get opinion polls". All I said was you shouldn't trust polls as during the last referendum they said it was going to be 'Remain'. I am not wrong, he was. Stop trying to justify his comments because I proved him wrong.
All she has done is to give the responsibility to the House so she can say 'it wasn't me it was them'. The faces on the Brexiteers tells a story. They really looked P'd off.
Whatever he does will be unpopular with some, mate. Corbyn himself has stuck to his guns, and still wants to honour the result of the referendum (he made that clear again in parliament just now). It's the party that has dictated that he should back a referendum as a last resort. If it happened, it would be just that, a last resort. I don't think it will happen. Based on May's statement just now, my guess is that May's deal will be rejected again on March 12th, No Deal will be ruled out on March 13th and Article 50 will be extended on March 14th. After that there will be 3 months to agree a new deal, which I would expect to include the permanent Customs Union that Corbyn favours.
We aren't getting any nearer exit by extending. There will be huge unrest caused by this. Farage's Brexit Party will be the winner
After watching ‘Nae Pasaran (as recommended by SM) it’s made me realise even more that any legitimate far Left wing government that was intent to look after the people instead of business would not be able to exist without the might of the multi corps and the likes of Amerikkka setting out to destroy it by any means possible. Democracy died years ago and it’s never coming back. Bella Ciao !!
I agree, but this I feel will alienate many, old and new, left wing Labour voters. Thus giving the Tories another umpteen years in power......the country is ****ed (unless of course you are a multi corp)
Well, they will get my vote and many others. 17.4M and many others will not stand for betrayal. They will vote with their feet. Both of the 2 major parties will be toast at the next election.
Yes, I think if Brexit isn't delivered (and let's face it, if there is an extension, the EU and Ireland will relax over the backstop knowing that Parliament is to frit to go WTO) then we will see a massive change to UK politics. It's started already with the new Centre Party (or Self-Centered more like). The Brexit Party could get huge support
