Best idea is to have 2 subforums, football and off topic, to stop everything getting clogged up. We can't just talk about city all the time look at 606 there were days when you (olm) were just pasting pointless links to news stories just so we had something to talk about (so they wern't pointless, but at the busy times you'd never bother if you get my drift). Besides I think it's fun to have a good laugh on here now and again, we've all got a sense of humor after all and I don't think any of us are pure serious (i'm far from it). Just keep out the threads that are pure bashing each other like that TWF one, unless your a complete tit like ****er man who comes on here solely just to wind his own fellow fans up, no one deserves it and it's just going to alienate people and possibly prevent new people from posting in fear of getting mauled by the tigers... Tigers aint cannibals after all...
if you click show poll results how do you get back to vote? my votes for anything goes by the way in case I can't do it..
I think nude pictures on OLM should accompany each post he makes; just to make it that little bit more special. Also to excite his many followers who completely idolise him. This would have many not606ers nursing a semi.
If the ethos of the site is to promote open debate then any within reason should be allowed. Many topics will only have tenuous links to Hull City but people are free to take it or leave it. I would wish to see the forum mostly Hull City related, mostly football related but you could not avoid cross over sometimes. The owner of our football club was born in Egypt, the events there may or may not impact on his business interests. Should we be prevented from discussing the situation in Egypt? I would not wish to see pornography on this forum, I would not wish to see racism on this forum. I would hope that they would be gimme's, but as always I may well be wrong. I am against the idea of one moderator only as that puts the elected ? moderator in an awkward position. ie he becomes a dictatorial autocratic censor by default. It will always be a difficult call, but we all know where the off button is . From the beginning I thought the people on here would be capable of regulating themselves by their own moderation. We do not in general have that many people spouting extremist views. Should people with extremist views bring those views here, surely we are capable of beating them in rational debate. We all have different views on life and should be able to express them within legal bounds, however this may not be the place for some subjects. One of the best posts I have read on this site stated that anybody wanting to be a moderator should never be allowed to be one. I agree with this and for the record I for one would not wish to be a moderator.
I enjoy logging on and checking the latest city news but what keeps me coming back is the wide range of topics which often appear. Some are informative; some are controversial but all are, in my view, what makes this a good forum. Try not to be too prescriptive in attempting to define the parameters of this board. We can all self regulate. After all, if you don't like the subject heading... ignore it!
i,m no prude but i think some of the swearing on here is a bit ott.i know about the filters etc but the persons doing it should be banned for a while.
As there's obviously quite a bit of support for non football articles, I've re-instated the deleted articles for the time being. Personally, I think the CI football board has the best mix, as it includes mainly articles on City, football and local news, but has the odd joke thread and the odd music thread. It's Football Plus section is for anything non football, it's predominantly political, with multiple threads on the threat of Islam, the move towards Sharia Law and what should be done about it. My preference would be to just allow the sort of things that appear on the CI football board, I think once we get into politics and religion, things are likely to get messy and we could end up with articles we wish fans of other clubs couldn't see, but I'll wait a couple of days to see what other responses we get before deciding anything else. This moderation lark is far more complicated than I expected.
I don't think this forum is exactly going to turn into a massive debate on religion/politics, there would just be perhaps a few threads each month. As long as the thread titles are clear, it would be very easy to avoid for those who are not interested in discussing the topics. Perhaps if you want to create a topic which is not really related to Hull City or Football, you could use the yellow "Exclamation" post icon? please log in to view this image
id never discuss religion , politics with people i dont know...or in fact in life at all....but if my right to gauge opinion on which coronation street pensioner was probably the dirtiest in her day is taken away, then im outa here
I am quite happy with non-football chat provided the majority of articles are about City and football matters. There are only two kinds of article that I have felt were inappropriate for the forum... ones that attack fellow posters (like the TWF one) and ones that are overtly sexual (like the recent one by Dean - sorry Dean). Not sure how to vote on Tapatalk but those are my views anyway.
I would have earlier said leave it open to any topic that people want to debate, but having just read the biggotted drivel being spouted on another artical thread I'd say that there is definate need for some of the articals to be removed.
The article you mention is exactly the reason I'm concerned about allowing any topic for discussion, I'd personally like a consensus that we don't have political or religious articles on here, it is a football forum at the end of the day and though we can be very lose with that, I'd rather not see this board become CI Football Plus.
I come on here to read about football. I don't come on here to read borderline racists on their soapbox. If they want to talk about this crap, do it on the general forum where I don't have to see it.
