Your pro-academy bias is showing again. Sims has done **** all for Reading on loan this season - there's no reason to believe he's a solution anytime soon. At least Elyounoussi has shown he can play well at a good level (for Basel in the CL). And Gallagher hasn't done anything of note either.
No we don’t. It would be really, really useful but factually it is not a must win Ps. I don’t care what you say either.
I bet you wouldn't mind agreeing with me if the referee gave Saints a last minute penalty which wins us the game.
Arsenal beat Saints Saints beat Arsenal Saints are equal to Arsenal Or not Football doesn’t work with logic ...
Why the hell are people talking about throwing in academy players who have never played a professional match? This is a big game. Austin should start this one. No brainer for me. Start Austin and tell him to stay in Fulham's penalty area and he will get chances.
I have no bias at all, more an opinion of "well they can't be much worse" than the first team options who have done **** all for far too long now. I don't expect them to pull up trees whatsoever, but they can't do any worse can they.
Yes they could. I’d expect any youngster given a chance to have impressed Ralph in first team training. That can be very difficult to achieve and perhaps harder than people imagine. Physicality plays a part in this too.
I just find it very weird how RH has given chances to Slattery, Ramsey and Valery, whilst completely ignoring more established players. In my opinion, Gallagher is better than Long/Austin and Sims is much better than Alien Lucy. They also offer pace, which our team is currently devoid of. It’s not “academy bias” to suggest giving them a fair chance. Especially when our current first team have proven to be pathetic at football
I think Sims is massively overrated by some fans. Being harsh, he had a couple of flashes in a pan and that was it. He failed at Reading. Gallagher was ok at Blackburn and Birmingham, not really good.... not sure why people think that will make him good for us in a harder league. First chance they need to take is showing it in training. If you hear that they have been, then you need to question the manager. Ps. I’ve not mentioned academy bias.
By the way, I really hope Sims and Gallagher make me eat some humble pie. I’d love them to come in and succeed. I just haven’t seen anything to make me think they will and I’d have to think that Ralph hasn’t either or else he’d have played them.
In your opinion, fine. But clearly not in Ralph's opinion. I think it's unfair to suggest it is weird. Particularly given that Ralph sees these players in training every day. As I said earlier, as bad as the likes of Long, Austin and Ely have been, they aren't the three worst footballers to ever play the game. It is absolutely possible to be even worse than them. If Ralph duly believes that, that's fine by me. (Particularly because it's not something which would surprise me.)
I known you didn’t mention it, but someone else did above. I don’t think anyone is saying they will be saviours, but I think they both should have been given more chances. Sims was instrumental in us beating Everton and Liverpool less than two years ago. Especially as he is quick. Which is our biggest attacking miss ATM. I know that we don’t see training, but if we go by what training is showing these managers, long has been playing regularly, and Gabbi has gone. I think whatever metric RH is using to pick strikers is wrong.
If 100% effort is the only requirement, then we're already sorted. Start Long every game, survival achieved. Done.
