Can't be bothered to read the 11 pages but I'll just add that Capital punishment doesn't work. If you want to reduce crime you have to tackle the reasons why crime exist and if you want to stop someone being a criminal you need to give them the option to not be a criminal. Simple. Compare us with Holland, they're closing prisons (and renting them out to other countries) as their crime rates are falling across the board. If people want Capital punishment so they can feel better about themselves and throw righteous fists in the air about a "beast" getting what they deserve then fine but don't kid yourself it will stop anyone else doing a bad thing in future. It simply doesn't.
Wrong. The death penalty and the right to protect yourself by owning arms is what deters people from committing crimes. Just look at the US of A.
As I said at the outset ... provided there was 100% certainty of the offence and the offence was heinous ... terrorism where innocent civilians are killed, rape and killing of children, serial killers ... I'd have no problem. I'd also accept life imprisonment with no prospect of release. Either way removes such **** stains from society for good. Don't need it to be a deterrent to others. Their victims and their victim's families don't have the option of 'rehabilitation' ... just a future cut short and a lifetime of dealing with grief ...
There is State Sponsored Killing... It's called Universal Credit. This has wiped out countless people. Brought to the country by the caring Tory party...
Well said, deterrents simply don't work. A bad **** will always be a bad **** and think they are too clever to get caught, get them off the streets and keep them off.
I think that's a bit simplistic. For example a psychopathic serial killer is a psychopathic serial killer. You won't stop him committing crime by giving him a job with Sharon in accounts. Some people will always be involved in crime and you won't stop them.
Some people, yes. But I'd wager that a lot of criminals are because of how/where they grew up. The pyschopath's who kill are a tiny % of criminals.
So if deterrents don’t work, then the death penalty is merely retribution by your own logic. You don’t need to have State sponsored murder to keep people who are a proven danger to society off the streets. You’ve also unilaterally decided that people are incapable of being rehabilitated under any circumstance.
