Had a strange happening last night, went to bed and was reading and the alert came in City 0-1 up through Campbell. Drifted off to sleep and woke about 45 minutes later, checked my phone, no further alerts, so drifted off to sleep happy, thinking it must be close to full time and still 0-1 up. Woke this morning and met with this news, hadn't realised the internet had gone down and only came back on during the night. I have to say that it struck me as odd that Nigel allowed the players to jet off to Dubai/New York etc, Have a day or two off, but flying to different parts of the world can't be a good idea? Ridgewell seems to be having problems coming to grips with the pace of the games, USA league is not as physical as the Championship, and he seems to be finding that out now. We certainly missed Stewart in midfield by the sounds of it, we need to get him back in the side and Wijs and Burke at centre back.
No one is getting carried away, but with the budget, the terrible two are likely to set for next season, he might be a cheap option.
I've got a feeling we are going to be crap next season anyhow, so even though he is not the best, he might be on a level with the team we are likely to put out.
And it hit the post, very lucky indeed. Hardly as if he slammed it into the corner, giving the keeper little chance.
I realised that I was just commenting that if he has a half-decent end to the season at Ipswich, with no parachute payments next season, we will be scrapping the bottom of the barrel player wise, so he might be an option. I always felt that due to no fault of his own, he never got a run of games, now he is, he seems to be at least starting to find the net in a poor Ipswich side.
Yeah , not bothered about Keane but how many others will go in the summer and what will that leave us with ?
Burnsy said on the radio he wouldn't give a deal to Evandro, Henriksen or Ridgewell. He would keep Campbell and Marshall. Anyone disagree with that? Let's face it, not one player here would make the cut in the Premier League, forget the hype. The decent players have been sussed out. You can run around all day chasing the ball but it's no substitute for lacking in skill. The quicker the fly-by-nights sell the family silver and move on the better.
The fact that we might be crap next season, isn’t a reason to go signing crap players, there’s central defenders with better goal scoring records than Keane.
I'd definitely keep Henriksen. I don't think we've used the loan market well enough this year, we really could have done with fleshing out the squad given how injury prone our players are. I'd bring in Kane permanently, if we get Shankland from Ayr on a free to replace Keane then that'd start looking a bit better. We aren't going to sign players that will take us up, but we need players who are good enough and the depth has to be good enough as well.
I suspect the twats will trigger Henricksen's year option (he told Burns there was one but had heard nothing), in the hope of selling him in the summer.
Nobody signed while we were in the Premier League is going to have their contract extended, particularly now the date to trigger those extensions has passed.
