There's definitely been a bit of bad luck but is conceding in the 94th and missing last min pens luck? No it's lack of concentration and unprofessional.what gets me is for eg yesterday both Howson and fletcher score their first league goals of the season. Bristol city, Birmingham, west broom lose their next game after beating us. I think the losing streak will finish with. A draw either Tuesday or at Brentford . Knowing our ,"luck" we will be 2 0 up and concede in the 88 and 95 mins! Please don't let us get hammered at Brentford again. Large away following syndrome. Talking of hammered where are people meeting for Brentford pre match?
Yes, the confidence for both players and fans is low but l still think we'll end up mid table, which is where most of us expected to be by seasons end. With young players and no budget, a mid table finish would be a amicable placing for one and all.
It’s been a terrible month, with still another tough game to go on Tuesday night at home to Leeds. To have had to play eight games between the 2nd Feb and 26th of Feb is a crazy state of affairs (and I’m sure many other clubs have had similar fixture crunches). Somehow we seem to have suffered more than anyone. Quotes from McClaren that when the games are so close together there is no chance to work on the training ground really shows that a coach has little time to change things around. Either in the way they play against different teams, or correcting mistakes in areas of the team - which is definitely a problem we are showing. Also squad fatigue has to play a factor - eg Leistner looked yards of the pace he needed to be in for a Championship defence. So we will have faced eight games in 25 days, with four mid-week games in that period. That peaked my interest to see how we have compared in the current form table... which showed some interesting facts. Looking at the top of the form table for the same period ... Sheffield Utd only 5 games; with only one midweek game. Preston only 5 games; with only one midweek game; Norwich only 5 games; with only one midweek game; Middlesbrough only 6 games; with only two midweek games; West Brom 7 games and three midweek games; Leeds only 5 games and two midweek games; Brentford 7 games and three midweek games; Bristol City only six games and two midweek games; Sheffield Weds. only six games and two midweek games; Birmingham only 5 games and two midweek games; In the centre of the form table... Reading only 5 games and one midweek game; Wigan only 4 games and one midweek game; then there’s the bottom four teams... Bolton only 5 games and one midweek game; Ipswich only 5 games and one midweek game; Stoke only 5 games and one midweek game; QPR - 8 games and FOUR midweek games. Only really West Brom and Brentford come close to our fixture madness. So we are a team in dire need of rest, recuperation and training ground work. I think it’s fair to say we need to cut the team some slack, and pray that we can rebuild our confidence now. After the Brentford game will be our first oppportunity to get on the training ground and do some proper coaching and teamwork again. If you ask me, that is a terrible state of affairs and hardly allows a professional club to perform anywhere near its best and give fans value for money and entertainment. That the results and the comparisons show the impact of a ridiculous set of fixtures in a ridiculously short time on a team are clear. We know we have a squad that needs to be improved, but we do have a squad capable of mid-table thankfully, so we just need to get past this and move on.
I think that tough schedule combined with missing key players during it / lack of top quality outside the best 14/15, and some bad luck, have caused the poor results compared to that before Christmas.
A lot of excuses on here for a spectacularly poor run of form. The fact is that our form dipped remarkably when Rangel, Cameron and Lluongo went missing. One of those is on a short term contract and another is a loanee which shows how thin on the ground we are. Many people on here are pinning their hopes on the youngsters coming through but unless we have some cash to spend before next season the future is pretty bleak in my view.
The club took a risk in sending so many of the youngsters out on loan in January. At the time it didn't seem so drastic but with the players looking increasingly tired and February being such a complete disaster I'm sure SM would really like to have more options available. The manager needs to take his share of the blame however: it's becoming increasingly obvious that his starting formation and tactics are way too predictable, a fact underlined by how improved we have been after half time changes. I think we will survive...
A friend's analysis. Not a QPR fan. "Ipswich and Bolton aren't going to catch anyone and the chances of both Reading and Rotherham finding form is slight. If you can manage six points they are both going to have to win six of their remaining games, that is equal to Reading's season wins so far and one more than Rotherham'.s The fact that you have five straight defeats would suggest that your game in hand is worth very little. I would risk my shirt (but not my house) on your staying up!"
An accurate but depressing read from Clive on LFW. https://loftforwords.fansnetwork.co.uk/news/49779/seven-games-in-a-leaky-boat-–-report
Correct. Not that our ambition should be to stay up by a point but we’re probably three points from that. Reading going down would be hilarious albeit annoying to lose such a local game for the West Windsor contingent.
