although leeds had 21 attempts on goal. 8 on target 8 off target and 5 blocked. Only one goal from open play. I think they might struggle for goals soon.
Bit disappointed with the way we started but great comeback and then well managed after we went ahead. This could be one of those games we look back on at the end of the season. Like the others, McLean started slowly but then came back into it with his goals. What a relief! OTBC!
Not a multiple choice, DD. One time it's brilliant, next time awful with poor choices or lackadaisical kicks.
Too true. Started lackadaisical then came back into it only to concede again. Second half again lackadaisical on and off until we were saved by the goals. Great result against a top 6 side, but we need to up our game for the run in.
DF, positive as ever, on the ups and downs of today's game: "It was an unbelievably complicated game against a really in-form side and you could feel in each moment the confidence of Bristol. In such games you have to accept there are different periods when sometimes you are on the front foot and sometimes the opponent is as they're two really good sides. It's important not to get too carried away when there's five minutes when your opponent is on the front foot. When you look at the 90 minutes it was a more than deserved win as for most of the periods we were on the front foot." I'll trust his judgement, but it was only when we finally went ahead and then saw it out that it felt that way!
This was fantastic. I looked around and every stand was clapping. Including the board of directors etc. Beautiful.
I have no Idea what The Bristol Manager was on about moaning about the officials. Their Keepers started wasting time from like, the 10th minute. A lot of their other players were doing it, none of them got a card, just loads of long warnings. Did not see a single moment I thought they could have had a penalty. Not a single moment I held my breath thinking it could be a pen. Their striker Elbowed Zimbo blatantly full in the face, and we didn't even get a free-kick for that!
I think he's just trying to find a way to deflect blame from his players. Easier to try and keep the winning mentality if the narrative for thebplayers is that they didn't lose the game, it was stolen from them.
Bristol could continue to help us out with a lot of top 6 fixtures to come. Hopefully on that showing they'll take plenty of points from the chasing pack.
Interesting he got booked. I didn't see that. How on earth has a Manager picked up 4 yellow cards in a season!? Hernandez was fantastic today. He was the best player in the pitch in my opinion. He was really up for it today, and Bristol were scared of him, often putting 4 players on him, and he was still getting through.
Agreed he was immense, although I do wish sometimes he didn't try and do it all himself so often. Like, it's impressive how well he keeps possession in their box as more and more defenders crowd around him, but I wish he'd realise that by that time that's happened, the percentage play is to stop looking for the shot, and release it to someone with space to make something.
Great win against a very good Bristol team. Our team spirit is excellent and epitomised by Zimbo who despite being battered and bruised refused to be substituted and stayed on to lead the team to a vital victory. Superb stuff - totally enjoyed today.
A couple or 3 times, he ran down the wing, cut inside, ran into the area, kept running, pretty much got to the right wing and lost it. That was damn frustrating. But that first half, he was our only decent player, and he continued that second half. I was excited every time we got the ball to Onel. I didn't matter where he was on the pitch, he was soon approaching their area.
