I think it’s importamt we stay on Wyke’s side, can see the negativity creeping in. Let’s not forget was a massive move for the lad and his seasons been destroyed. Comparing him to Altodore etc, let’s ****ing not eh lads? We need to allow for him missing all of pre-season then another 2.5 months. No different to Watmore who gets all the patience. Wyke will need a lot of playing time to get there.
're Wyke, I completely agree Nads. I said before we got Will Grigg that I worried as we only had Wyke and Watmore to score our goals. Both were returning from long term injury and were never going to be up to speed for us at this important stage of the season. Duncan gets a lot of slack from fans and I fully understand that but Wyke gets pelted every week. There's plenty of games left and I expect that if Charlie keeps getting game time then he will come good as will Watmore. We're lucky that were getting goals now from defenders and McGeady keeps chipping in with the class he has which is a massive bonus for us in this league. Fans have got to sometimes look at the bigger picture and remember it feels better to cheer your players than to jeer them, here's hoping.
We just need that element of support to realise that you don’t have to have a scapegoat. We’ve always had one, we don’t need it. I hear folk praising the CB’s then slating Wyke. Why? Teams doing well, he will do better, being on his side rather than his back makes or breaks the lad. He’s been a goal machine in this league, and it’s always gonna be a longer road back from injury for a unit like him. He will play his part.
If you mean at the games and on social media then absolutely, he gets my full support. Not that I'm really on social media but I hate hearing about people giving the club **** on there. However if it's just on here then I don't see the problem with being honest, it's not going to hurt Wyke's feelings if he doesn't read it. I've seen nothing at all from him so far that makes me think he'll be any use, sounds like he did a little better today by at least being in the right place to miss but it's faint praise. If I thought it was all down to confidence and injuries I'd be more sympathetic but the lad looks crap to me. Sorry.
If no chances were being created, I would be more concerned. It will take time but hopefully he will get there
Let's face it, the doom mongering ****s would never be satisfied with a 2-0 away win. They're all over twitter calling the lad worse than ****. Fantastic result but they just can't be happy. Poisonous little ****s. Watmore gets **** on there as well. Sent from my Moto G (5) using Tapatalk
Anyone who has seen the netflix documentary will be familiar with the Johnny Williams situation where he openly admitted he had a fear of missing. Wyke is probably going through something similar and even the easiest of opportunities will seem difficult to him. It's a funny thing the human brain it will only remember the negatives not the countless other times he's hit the back of the net. He just needs one to go in for him then I'm sure he will be fine. I know myself when I've been playing of I've made a mistake it stays with you. You don't want the ball to come to you for fear you will cock up again. At least for now he is still getting in the positions. Let's not slaughter the guy we still won the game I'm sure he will know in his own head that he's missed some chances so pouncing on him will only add to the fear element. It doesn't matter how much he's getting paid or that he's a professional only the very best don't let these things affect them and the fact he is playing in league one shows that he ain't one of the best. Haway Charlie stick the next one away and all those utter twats that call themselves fans will soon shut the **** up.
I mean, let’s simplify it. If I’ve missed footy for a few weeks (which happens as I have a ****ed back), first week back your touch is ****, it’s not as natural. X 100000 for a pro footballer. The lad will be alright if the ****ing idiots don’t break him. Richardson Kenwyne Sessegnon 3 players who got dogs abuse from segments. Also 3 players who scored massive goals and made massive contributions. Matthews gets ****, Oviedo, some quarters Honeyman. These people are ****ing idiots.
Big win for you lads today. I was starting to have my doubts about you making the automatic places, but today has put you in the strongest position yet imho. Yeah it was only Bristol Rovers but that was a massive away result. I think your visit to Barnsley next month will probably be your biggest decider of the season, the play-offs are a lottery and hold no respect, but you are now knocking the door and it's going to be an interesting few weeks. Portsmouth did what my team did some seasons back when we were in a strong position for autos and bombed out with one of the worst run-in ever. Sunderland have played it smart by sitting outside the top two, and now is the time to stake your claim lads.
I think if we win the 2 before Barnsley and go there above them, we’ve got it. You’re bang right, anything can happen in playoffs I’d rather not go through that. I was 20 or so when we played Charlton and I’ve been in my mid 30s ever since, just so happens the actual years have caught up now
The thing with Wyke though isn't that he's off the pace, got a poor first touch and rusty finishing, those things I'd chalk up to a lack of game time. It's that he doesn't seem to use his strength at all well he goes down far too easily and doesn't win free kicks for it similar to what Fletcher was like, rarely wins headers despite that supposedly being his forte and is always in the wrong place at the wrong time. Promising signs today arguably that at least he got a few shots in. Maybe he'll turn into a different player overnight if he gets a couple of goals it does happen.
Yeah we will see. All of those things you describe are physical though mate, and if you’re finding your feet after injury, and a big lad, that’s gonna be the last bit that’s sharp ain’t it?
