The refereeing was **** but it has to be expected. The standard of refereeing in the Prem is dreadful, the refs are what ruin what is the greatest league in the world. All teams get dicked over by shocking decisions. Ultimately we defended horrendously in that second half. No one seemed up for it today. Winks and Sissoko were dreadful in the middle, Aurier still amazes me he made it as a professional footballer, Son was quiet, Harry grabbed a goal but offered little... Just a poor performance. We’ve probably blown the smallest of chances of trying to nick the title from Pool/ City, I never expected us to do so anyway but blowing it like we did today is just disappointing. Here’s now to a fun summer where I fear a couple key players will look to do a “Walker”
Our game relies on fluency amongst other things and I agree Roo, breaks often don't do us any favours. Dean is the worst ref we could have against a team like Burnley who, as much as I hate their tactics and methods, did deserve their 3 points. I am never convinced that throwing on extra attackers does much good. It destroys the balance of the team and they often get in each others way. It's a desperate measure that rarely works IMO.
Thanks. Any particular decision or just an accumalation of ****-ness? If the first half was anything to go by we looked well off the pace after our break. The only solace is that the games come thick and fast now so that cannot be an excuse from now on. Sell Kane
In terms of throwing on attacker’s,I think Llorente needed to come on to liven it up a bit and give them something else to think about, but winks shouldn’t have been the one to go off. He was probably our best player. Then as soon as Llorente came on, we started playing short corners. You couldn’t make it up. Like @Dier Hard says though, the standard of reffing is appalling in the PL. but it’s exacerbated when you get the worst one of the lot. Only positive is that I think this will massively kick us on for the Chelsea and Arsenal games.
Generally ****, but their first goal came from a corner that should've been a goalkick and Bardsley should've got a straight red.
Poor performance against Burnley`s dogs of war, central midfield was non existent, the wing backs had zero creativity and couldnt cross their own fingers, Aurier is a loose cannon and JV put more quality crosses in against Dortmund than Rose has all season. Foyth struggled with Burnley`s physical approach, we seemed to lack somebody willing to put their foot in and we did not start playing with any urgency until we went behind. Burnley scored 2 fortunate goals, one from a corner that should of been a goal kick and the other from a scuffed shot falling into the path of a teammate. I did not think Mike Dean was all that bad for once, though maybe he could have sent off Bardsley for a dangerous tackle and made a few strange calls on a few free kicks.
Nah...think our heads will drop like sfter we lost to Watford away in September...lost 3 on the bounce then.
I think it was @Spur of the Moment who said that the ball wasn’t in the quadrant in the lead up to their second goal. My stream was ****, so I didn’t see it. Anyone else? Hilarious if true, seeing as moments before Hugo was penalised for a rolling ball on a goal kick.
Pochettino trying to be diplomatic in his post-match comments to avoid censure. **** that. Call Dean out. We'll keep getting him, otherwise.
On a corner? It doesn't have to be. It needs to overhang it, for some reason. Not sure why it's different to every other rule, but it is.
I can be suspended permanently if the site so wishes BUT I maintain we are more effective without Harry as was proved today. We were unbeaten in the league without him, come on, it's obvious.
The punditry hit a new low with... "Burnley scored from a corner that should have been a goal kick and danny rose stole a yard or 2 on the throw in so it evened itself out" SERIOUSLY????
