Whatever you stance on the current manager, the one thing that is absolutely certain is that we all want to lift the doom and gloom that the early part of this season has brought. Whether you think that 3 games and a cup defeat is too early to talk about crisis times, or that you believe the trend is now over 8 months not 3 games is immaterial.

We have a new and IMO a very good young player making his debut for us tomorrow and he will be looking for the famous Roker Roar to make him welcome. He needs us to forget the trials and tribulations of recent weeks (after all he wasn't here to witness it anyway) and will be looking to cement his place in our hearts very quickly.

Steve Bruce is a good bloke and I believe he wants the best for the club (he does need to win a derby game though, to put to bed any thoughts I do still have about his commitment to doing just that) and in bringing in Bendtner, however late in the day and however it came about, he has given us a new fresh dimension to our end product. I rate the lad highly and think we have got him at a perfect time. He needs to push on now and needs a new challenge. We just need someone who can stick it in the bloody net.

Chelsea is a no lose situation for the manager and the players. A result of any kind is going to be difficult to say the least so the pressure is off to an extent. A decent performance and a good debut from Nicklas (hopefully paired with Asamoah) and I will look forward to the Stoke game next Sunday.

Lets hope there is a big crowd and a happy crowd tomorrow and that there are many positives to take from the game, whatever the result. As ever, I'll take an optimistic stance and hope for a goal and a draw. Chelsea are not firing on all cylinders yet and the crack is Drogba is missing. Torres is all at sea and they have some new faces to bed in. I want to see Gardener and Vaughan included and to see Larsson back to the right where he is most effective.

Go for it Brucie and throw the kitchen sink at them. Go down fighting but please, please dont go down with whimper.

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but are we certain that Bendtner, Gyan and Sess are starters for tomorrow?

Well somebody has just said elsewhere that Gyan is out for 2 weeks, so Bendtner might well start.

I don’t know about Gyan or why he may be out for 2 weeks but watching the interview from Bendtner last night on SAFC TV, he didn’t sound like a bloke who had come here to sit on the bench mate. I reckon he is an automatic start tomorrow and so is Sess. I can’t see why Gyan wouldn’t start as he was only taken off as a precautionary measure for Ghana last week.

If he doest play and it isnt an injury, it will be an indication of his commitment to us IMO, not ours to him.

Just been on SSN that Bendtner starts but Gyan is out with hamstring. A downer but I think Bendtner is a better lone striker than Gyan so its all down to how the team is set up, 4-5-1/4-4-1-1 or 4-4-2.

I dont see a 4-4-2 with Gyan out and was looking forward to seeing Sess on the wing but like you Cest I think its time to get behind the team, whatever the team is.

We badly need something to hang on to and lift us all and I have great hopes that Bendtner can provide that lift.

I guess I sound like a proper gloomy 'we are dooommmed' Sunderland fan atm, but if Gyan and O'Shea are out for the game tomorrow, it cannot be good news. So Cest' you reckon Bentdner I hope you are right and if Titus comes in lets hope he has a stormer against Torres and co

Bentdner and Wickham up front. A lethal partnership.

We will miss Gyan big time, if anyones committment should be questioned its Bendtners, hes the one who has everyhting to proove. At present people are singing his praises more than Gyan but I bet of Bendtner does nothing and misses a few chances tomorrow then suddenly he will be useless etc.

Gutted about Gyan I was looking forward to seeing how they play together.

If Gyan and O'Shea are indeed out, my team would be:

    --------------------Bendtner---------------------
    Sessegnon----------------------------Richardson
    ------------Vaughan--------Larsson------------
    ---------------------Cattermole-----------------
    Colback---Brown--------Bramble----Bardsley

I'm no Richardson fan, but he did play a cracking game on the right wing against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last season, as you all know.
