not good enough justification. Surely if these burley soldiers are so tough and highly trained in their own martial arts they can easily deal with them with theor bare hands
No the possession of those weapons alone does not justify it , but if the people with the weapons were endangering the lives of the IDF then the use live rounds was justified. If I was armed with a pistol/sub machine gun and someone came at me with an Iron bar with intent to hit me I'm pretty sure i'd be shooting him. In fact i'm certain of it. I was not aboard that ship none of us were, and despite the 2 reports from the UN stating who was to blame, no one from the UN was actually aboard the Mavi Marmara either. The UN have had to rely on testimony from 2 parties (the Turks and the Israelis) both of whom who had vested interests so I guess we will never know what really happened. I'm not being cold hearted, just realistic when I say if you are looking for trouble with the Israelis you will often find it. I suspect that some people aboard that ship were looking for a fight and they got it, unfortuantely it did not work out the way most of them had planned.
That sounds suspiciously like the british justification for bloody sunday."they were looking a fight", "they were unarmed but were endangering lives". Fact remains that vessel was boarded in international waters so the israelis had no right to board and the people on board had every right to resist. I may be wrong here this may only apply to naval ships but are boats not a floating pieces of sovereign territory of the place they are registered when in international waters i.e. the israelis in effect performed an invasion of a piece of Turkish territory
There was a "Legal" blockade in place, the flotilla were warned on numerous occasions not to attempt to breach the blockade. Why? ps Please stop talking about Bloody Sunday Jacky, it's nothing at all to do with this.
If boats were parts of sovereign territory Yankee students would not sail out to international waters for wild sex parties
Im just using it as comparison. The civil rights march was illegal as was (in the Israeli's view) the attempt to breach the blockade. The army decided to get involved and trouble starts. The army decide to respond to the touble (which they caused) by opening up with live rounds on unarmed nom military personell, not legitimate targets. These two scenarios apply to both, there are significant parallels between the two incidents.
Yes it does. Non armed military personell can still be seen to be legitimate targets, to kill unarmed non military personell is a war crime. Armed with a stick does not count as armed
Who said they were armed with sticks? If killing "unarmed non military personell" is a war crime then the IDF are innocent (the UN agree with me that no War Crime was committed) as there is ample evidence that there were armed with the weapons I mentioned. Slingshots (firing ball bearings), Iron bars and knives. If they were "unarmed" how did the IDF soldiers get injured?
well the first report, not affected by the same political pressure, did indeed find them guilty of breaches of the Geneva convention
and still you have yet to provide your own contributing arguement reinforcing my point about your cluelessness on the subject where you have blindly thrown your alliegence behind one side
And it was not affected by any input from Israel, just the Turkish side of the story which we know is full of holes. How did the IDF soldiers get injured by "Unarmed" men?
**** em. Trouble making bastards teh lot of them. If it was me I'd have leathered the ****s and asked questions later and if it turns out they weren't armed, oh well, they started it. They were involved in an illegal action and given Israel's history of intolerance to trouble makers, their stupidity got what it deserved. If nothing else, it maybe removes a few idiots from the gene pool which can only benefit humankind in the generations to come.
No I just see no point in trying to argue a point that you will not sway on, you hate the Jews and Israel and you have made that abundantly clear time and time again.
