  1. Somethings been in the back of my mind for a while since the Fulham match, and I've just watched the replay of it again.

I happened to notice that we let a Fulham player have a free header on goal from 6 yards out twice, and Krul had to save us.

There were two simple in-swinging crosses into the box, and for each one, a Fulham player easily lost our defense.

Simpson is ****ing terrible at marking. He's got no power or presence what so ever, and he was the reason why one of the Fulham players were allowed a free header on goal.

The next one, everyone was just clueless. No one followed him.

I don't want to have to rely on Tim Krul to save us for the rest of the season. For a defense that's been quite solid mostly, if it wasn't for Krul making two excellent saves we would have lost 2-3.

I know you're thinking that i'm being too negative and i should be just happy with the result, but i hope Pardew shows them the replay of this. It's quite concerning, considering Fulham rarely attacked us. They only caught us a few times each half on the break.

If we defend like that against the likes of Stoke, we'll get pummeled.

Sorry to be a negative Nancy but it needs addressing.

And yet it was Krul's positioning that allowed them to score...

I agree Tash. Simmo is what I would call a ball watcher, no positional sense when marking at set pieces, he would be better sitting in the front row of the stand at corners. You get taught not to ball watch when you are at a very early age,it obviously hasnt sunk in with him,he lets the guy get a run on him and can't cope.

I thought the same thing on the day. But, lets be honest. It will be something that has been picked by Pardew, and it will be sorted. Colo, and Saylor will have also noticed the frailties, and will have stepped up their game to avoid such things happening again.

I have every faith in our defense this season, so long as someone doesnt get injured.

No defense is infallible, everyone makes mistakes and for the most part we've been really solid, BUT, as I was reading this, the same word kept flashing in my mind and you highlight it yourself "Stoke!!!"

We've looked good during open play (Colo stepping forward, Saylor dropping back to mop things up) but set pieces and long/lofted balls are definitely our weakness, it'll be worked on though!

    1. Dempsey is very good in the air.
    2. Losing a header that far out is rarely a problem.

I'm not having a go at Krul, he will learn from his mistake and I am glad he made that error in a game where we still got the three points.

You can't expect a defender to win every single ball, on top of that the Keeper is the last line of defense, had Krul been on his line we would have had a clean sheet, however i agree about Simpson, but remember Saylors first few seasons, he had no positional sense what so ever, i'm sure he will learn its just a matter of experience he is still quite young and only had 2 seasons in regular first team action

  11. Agreed. He's been immense so far, and despite his mistakes he's still better than Harper <ok>

Tiote was the one who lost Murphy for the second header.

Krul was at fault for the goal. Sure the defenders should have done better also but at the end of the day he should not have been that far off his line in no mans land. As mentioned above at least it was in a game where we were ahead. As I've said many times we'll have to take the rough with the smooth with Krul over the next year or so. Young keepers take time and games to develop good habits.

I saw signs of trouble too in the game, better teams will punish us. But overall we've got to be happy and I'm sure they have done a full review and will look to cut those errors. I think there was an element of complacency about it too as they were comfortable in the game.

It could be a problem, but I don't think it will be, if you've seen it then it's likely the coaches have so they will most probably address it.

Too distracted by the prettyness of your 50,000 point marble looking award to read what youve posted.

I now regret giving all my points to Toon In Manchester.

Every now and then I like to top up his points tally.

Dont worry, now I've seen the 50,000 point award I definitely wont be giving him anymore. I need it.

    better teams like Arsenal?

Also, I thought getting onto crosses was one of the stronger points of Fulham's game?
