Morning all. You cannot win them all Dave. Frosty start again today, but it looks as if it will be warm enough today to get the gardening gear on. Yesterday in a garden centre there was a line of elderly gents looking at the packets of tomato seeds, and choosing which ones to grow. You can buy small protective covers to put over tomato plants at this time of year. It sometimes looks as if a row of small plants are wearing gloves.
Went to a lecture about French gastronomy last night...in French of course. Delighted to find I understood at least a third of it, helped by a glass or two of red and some very informative overheads and lecture notes!
Morning all. A lovely Spring like morning now that the light overnight frost has gone from the ground. With a bit of luck I will be able to get my rotovator out and prepare and enlarge my veggie patch. I think I have a family of moles underneath it judging by the number of molehills, but that does show there must be worms, which is a good sign.
Morning all. Another beautiful morning, this time without frost. As reported my neighbour who happens to be the Mayor was in court on Thursday over not declaring an interest in council business. It is treated very seriously with a 5 year max jail term plus a massive fine if found guilty. It all comes down to the saga of the wind turbines, which he claimed would provide €50,000 pa for the community, forgetting to mention that he would have a couple on some of his land bringing in €24,000 pa for the next ten years. Judgement will be given on the 4th April and the prosecution is calling for a suspended two years behind bars, which would bar him from holding any public office. The Mayor from the adjoining commune along with two councillors were also on trial for the same offence. We await to see what will happen, but many small communities have councils with local farmers, and the prosecution was suggesting that a severe sentence would send out a message to others to declare their interests.
Morning all. A very mild and bright start to the day. Off for my monthly dinner with friends. Probably not quite warm enough to be eating out on the terrace, but not far away now. Have a good day whatever you plan to be doing.
Morning all. Another good day in store, dry, sunny and very warm for the time of year. The cranes have been flying north over the past week, a sure sign that the temperatures are rising. Enjoy your day whatever you intend to do.
Good morning all from a cool and dry Weston-super-Mare! Have a good day First new treatment starts today
Morning all. Overcast, with a shower or two that were not forecast. Hope all goes well Dave, without too much discomfort.
