Hmmm, I think merging the two threads might not be the best idea. At least our resident yanks have had a little er, cultural exposure to acclimatize themselves to our more, shall we say.... interesting contributors. See above posts for example.
It would be a good idea to merge the threads, almost do what FSG want to kind of do, use one 'venture' to compliment the next.
Right then I'll keep an eye on Marcus Kwesi O'Mard over at NESN & see what develops their end, maybe some collaboration would work in this thread that may or not be ****ter than others. I'm not qualified to answer wether the Bostonians can handle aswordmadeofhash & skylarker as I'm relativley new not606'er, but I'm sure there are American counterparts
Back to the OP about the red sox, I have been watching baseball for about a year now as it is live on ESPN america. I understand quite a bit about the game and it is a decent watch. Never really had a side before and just used to support underdogs whenever I watched a match but becuase of our link I now always support the red sox, sad I know but that is the sort of stupid thing that fans do.
I lived in the Boston/Mass area in the late 1970s and the team were truly awful for the whole time I was there. But there is definitely something about the team that chimes with with LFC - and I don't just mean the word 'red.' There was just a resilience to the people (supporters) I met and a sense of community that I think exists among Liverpool fans too. Part of that was to do with regional identity among the Irish population across the Greater Boston area. Whatever it is, I have a good feeling about the rapport we might develop with the Red Sox, however it will always be in the context of them calling our game 'soccer' etc etc! GKRK.
Now I'm beginning to understand good stuff terrifictraore & good kop red kop, exactly what I wanted to hear
missed that one, only really watch the live games and so hard to keep up with scores as they seem to play every day.
Been to usa twice but never had any interest in the game, next time I go over there I will go to whatever game I can just for the experience.
I ended up watching a game because we went to Toronto to see one of my cousins, the cousin i was stopping with who plays baseball realised the Jays were at home to the Yankees so we ended up going to the game.It cost us £4.50 for a ticket.I must admit it was an experience.People just get up and down going for food and drink even though the game is going on.A fellah comes round with a cool box selling beer.It was surreal
I remember reading a couple of years ago that they stopped selling beer during Jays v Red Sox games because of the amount of trouble
