Bill Cosby's claiming that he's a political prisoner and making direct comparisons between himself and Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King and Mahatma Gandhi

    Yeesh...

I love this."They" are suggesting that Trump could have been a double agent for Russia. Frankly,I wouldn't be surprised about anything that s.o.b. could/would do!

Gandhi was a weird sex-case too, to be fair.
Not sure what's political about Cosby's incarceration, though. He plead guitly, too.

His statement is utterly batshit, as he's talking about crooked judges, DAs with an agenda, and how he has no remorse

That last part is one hell of a nail to make sure the coffin lid's sealed tight, isn't it?

AOC is able to communicate effectively with modern tools. She also shares many of my opinions, especially nationalized health care. She contrasts very favorably with most Democrats, who can't communicate effectively, can't use modern tools, and favor whatever it was Republicans favored before their last lurch rightward.

While I certainly like her on balance, I have a couple of concerns. She's given alarmingly ignorant answers to a couple of questions. More worryingly, I'm not sure where she stands on the topics of rationality and the rule of law. There seems to be a tragic left right consensus that both are tools of oppression. I think they are the only tools that combat oppression effectively.

Also, I think and hope even the benighted citizens of USNA know that India is the world's largest democratic republic.

  7. Great points RWB - thanks for the local, informed response. I’ve only picked up on her more well publicized commentary to date - and from that have taken that, far from the finished article, she would seemingly be a break from the established order - and not in the current trend.

Does AOC also present as a threat to more ‘mainstream’ Democrats? And who would she likely support in the the upcoming nominations?

Donald Trump has declared a national emergency at the US Southern border in order to grab funding for his wall.
He said this less than a year ago:

And he said this about Obama:

He eats endless fast food because he's afraid of being poisoned and doesn't exercise, as he believes we have a finite amount of energy.
His official weight and height pushes him into obese territory, but he's clearly far heavier than even the 243lbs he's credited with.

A brief summary of the levels of Tory sneering at the schoolkids going on strike for climate change

"Disruptive" and "wasting time" - the Dire Leader, who's one to ****ing talk after delaying the Britait vote that was supposed to happen before Christmas
"They should go on strike at the weekend" - sneering ****wit Toby Young, apparently unaware of what a strike is
"An excellent opportunity to avoid doing any work" - Sarah Vine, Daily Mail hatchet-wielder who happens to be Michael Gove's wife

What's the Latin motto for the Tory party? Semper hi infra ferrum?

Let me see if I've got this straight...

    *deep breath*

Jacob Rees Mogg says the British use of concentration camps during the Boer War was justified because the number of people who died in those camps was comparable with the mortality rate in Glasgow at the time

*looks at what I just typed*

    Hang on a moment...

    *looks at it again*

...okay, not only does that look uncannily like somebody justifying the use of concentration camps, but also attempting to sidestep the issue by omitting the minor detail that the number of women and children who died in those camps was significantly higher than it was in Glasgow at the time

I'm sure that coal mining and shipbuilding were both remarkably safe industries to work in at the time...

  18. May criticises schoolchildren marching against Climate Change, suggesting they're wasting time and adding administrative burden on teachers. Talk about 'Pots & Kettles'...
And then the Gammon & Pearl Brigade feign mock outrage at the '**** Off May' chants that followed.
Great to see they have their priorities right <doh>

And difficult though it is to find humour in the Brexit shambles, this comes close.... <laugh>
