Apart from the final 15 minutes we were pure brilliant. I thought Klich and Phillips were immense, they broke everything up and their passing was spot on. Harrison wasn’t too bad down the wing, Alioski ran his socks off, a shame his crossing let him down big time today but he still caused them problems. I’d love to see the penalty again, I didn’t think it was one and I was sure it was outside the box and come on guys, Ayling was okay tonight. I’m glad I watched it as Ayling isn’t even half as poor as I keep hearing, not tonight anyway. Roofe looked a bit too desperate to score, he kept drifting into Bamfords space and on the subject of Bamford, a little rusty but very skilful on the ball and great positional play, if he remains fit he’ll be very useful. In all a great team perfomance, we should have been 3 to 4 goals up before the penalty which I need to see again.
At the start of the season I was impressed with how we saw teams out by keeping the squeeze on them... this was more typical Leeds panic-on-a-lead stuff. We were cruising at 2-0 and were casually trying to walk it in... one stupid pen later and we’re bricking it. No matter, what matters was 3 points.. and a decent performance up to the last 10 minutes.
This is why I just don't fancy a play off place. Got to be autos not that bothered if we are 1 or 2 to be quite honest. At least I got my forecast right for a change. Hopefully back to winning ways
Previous seasons we’d have threw it away and drew 2-2 pressure has got to get to them a bit when you know results have slipped a bit.
What a league, Norwich stuff us 3-1 then lose by the same scoreline to Preston. No easy games and I’ve just looked at our fixtures for March, that’s a month that could make or break us.
That was a 3-0 performance, not a 2-1. In the end we got the points, and it's good to see us playing with confidence again. Long 10 days ahead now though. Great result for Preston, Derby dropped 2 and they've been sneaking up.
Looked like we were trying to throw it away. Pontus looked rock-like again at the end... I’ve been a bit critical of him of late so good to see him holding firm when there were a few rabbits in headlines around him. My gut was that the penalty was a penalty... it was just such a stupid challenge... continuing a theme of bad defensive cock ups.. good that this one just cost us a few uncomfortable moments, not a few points.
Just been on the swans forum, I couldn’t be bothered to post over there as they were obviously watching a different game to me. One guy described it as like watching bottom of the Championship v League One, another said we were only slightly better...
All about opinions as they say. Admittedly only watched on the red button on sky. Thought Alioski was excellent tonight, my MOM (run close by KP but I'm biased as I think he has been the player of the season). Had my heart in my mouth every time the ball went to Ayling, half the time he'd beat himself with his own flicks onto the back of his own heels and god only knows why he gave them a penalty when we had been snuffing all their attacks. Like him but been miles off the pace for a few weeks now.
We've handy home games against WBA. Sheff Utd, Sheff Weds, Millwall, A.Villa and handy away games against QPR, Bristol C, Birmingham, Preston and Brentford.......
I thought Pablo misplaced passes just as much as anyone tonight but he goes for the pass that makes a difference, some will come off some will fail I accept that with Pablo but nobody cares if he passes to the wrong player or loses the ball but if Ayling does it’s jumped straight on. It’s just every season we seem to have a scapegoat, Phillips would have been sold off by many last season, this season it’s Ayling who I thought was okay. I agree Alioski had a decent game but did you honestly see a single cross that found a target, they were all over hit or straight to the keeper. I like Alioski, I’d have him in my team so this isn’t bashing him, I just felt his crossing should have been better tonight.
Think it's time we all stopped saying he wheels are coming off again post Xmas, as it's obviously not is it. Yes a couple of bad performances but even those were down to not taking our chances and we did it again tonight. We should have won that by 4 or 5 but after smashing them to bits allowed them back in
