He does in my imagination, goal scoring of Pele, inventiveness of Messi, I’m telling you he is bloody amazing.
From what I've seen of him he looks like he has time on the ball, but was expecting blistering pace and creative flair, you know a more skilful version of Saiz? Not seeing that yet and maybe he's only on the bench because we are now contributing to his wages? We live in hope that having him with the club, tending his injury and getting him fit again will reap the reward of being the best bit of business any club has ever done.
If he does that for us I’ll forgive his looking like a fooking golliwog with that haircut. (Hope that wasn’t racist).
Can't get too excited over players on youtube - even Habib Habibou (still not convinced that signing ever occurred) and Adryan looked half decent on their youtube reels, and christ both of them were dreadful. That said, Izzy has played in the league before and looks like he may have that little bit of pace, flair, and unpredictability in the final third which could be vital in the last few months of the season. He'll be fresh, too, which is a big bonus. The obvious question is that will he even be half the player he used to be before his injury - fingers crossed he is.
I think the introduction of Izzy is dependent on Bamford staying fit and getting up to speed. It's my theory and so there to be shot down but it's based on Izzy probably replacing Roofe in his current position, not good to pi%5 off your leading goal scorer but if Bamford holds up then Roofe is expendable?
Think you’re right, I thought Roofe looked average tonight at times, he was playing too close to Bamford and he looked desperate for a goal. I didn’t think Izzy was going to get a sniff tonight after playing 45 in the U23s yesterday, I still don’t understand why not give him the full 90 yesterday and speed him up.
Could be that Izzy for Roofe is close and so if needed tonight there would have been a change, as it turned out it wasn't needed, but got close. I would expect the change for Bolton in 10 days if all goes to plan
The opportunity to develop Roberts as a #10 was taken tonight. He seems to be a priority over Brown atm. Wonder if this will still be the case when Brown is deemed sufficiently fit by Bielsa. For the record, I thought Roberts was a lost child for most of his run-out tonight. His head didn't appear to be in gear to me or the chaps sitting around me. Once the head eventually engaged, the legs were willing, but, boy! he was way off the mark. Bielsa clearly sees something in him, but hasn't convinced him, it would seem. And yet he's considered before Brown ..... Knowing Bielsa, there will be a very good reason, and we don't need to know what it is. For me, Roberts was the only disappointing performance tonight.
Think Brown on the bench in case needed in emergency, but will carry on with the U23s I reckon as he has another couple of games to do for them. Bielsa insists he is the natural Saiz replacement unless Roberts or Roofe steals it, which doesn't seem likely at the mo
