My dad and uncle grew up in Royston, always thought it weird when they told me they would fight for a gang called The Shamrock considering who they both support....

Another true story. I had a mate Cloggy from The Monks and he was going out with a lassie from Royston who's brother was a main man in the Shamrock, Cloggy was a (hun btw). She invited him up to her house one day and he asked me to go in case it was a set up.

I went grudgingly with him, both of us tooled up, but luckily we never got as far as the house, we saw a load of guys hanging around looking suspiciously like a team and we beat a hasty retreat out of Dodge.

Don't know if Cloggy ever saw her again.

 

When I think of it I have dozens of gang stories, all funny now but not at the time.

 

Why was he called Cloggy?

That was another thing, nicknames. Most ****s didny even know how they got their nickname, they just did.

Well we alredy know why that was.

 

Cloggy also got me to dog school once and me and him and another guy called Alan Rogers of us went to St Mungo's Academy. Cloggy ran into the playground and just started knocking **** out of everybody, it was carnage. Me and rogers just watched until a group of about 6 guys came back from the shop and ran towards Cloggy to intervene and perhaps calm his passion.

So we did what pals do, we set about them until a teacher came out and collared Cloggy. Me and Rogers ran like **** and made our way home safely. That night I got a knock on the door, Cloggy had grassed us both up.

I had to go in front of the children's panel, I got a year's probation.

He died a few years ago, apparently he was a Sgt in Strathclyde's finest.

Good lad but mental. He also shot me in the school playground with an air pistol and slashed the back of my hand with a stanley knife...not at the same time.
