Hasn't your mother told you a million times not to exaggerate? Sorry, but the pedantic, blinkered, only see what they want to see ****s on here are not worth trying to have a reasonable debate with. You can't debate with people who have a set in stone agenda, before they even start.
This must be straight from the iranian tourist board because it neglects to mention the huge and serious human rights abuses that take place within that nation, and the internal struggles that minorities, intellectuals and women are facing to achieve any kind of equality and political voice.
according to UNHCR last i checked Iran certainly has issues, however the figures for higher education show 68% women, Minorities seem to have certain 'protection' from the imams, women and minorities are represented on the majlis (parliament) In fact it would be interesting to know the ratio of male v females in parliament for Uk and Iran. Even better the majlis seem to have representation in the 'cabinet' as it were. reason i say this is having women as councillors/mp's can be misguiding to actual impact/decision making anyone have in figs/stats?
dont know about that mate, dont know if its true or propaganda What i do know is that over 45 years ago the ayatollah khomeini wrote about new medical issues like transsexuality and The Ayatollah's ruling that sex-change operations were allowed has been reconfirmed by Iran's current spiritual leader. yet The Gender Recognition Act 2004 came into force in the UK in from April 2005. Under the provisions of the Act a transsexual person can apply to be legally recognised in their acquired gender. It took us here almost 40 years to catch up with the 'backwards iranians' TBH i dont have time for iran personally, however often when having these discussions certain facts get ignored
Are you now denying that in Iranian law, that a man's word is taken before a woman's, and a Muslim's word is taken before a non-Muslims'? By the way, I'm no supporter of what's going on in Israel either.
I really wish for simpler times. You know, like back in the 50's when smoking was cool and beneficial to your health, and a back hand across the wife's jaw was not only your right it was actively encouraged. Kept them in their place. They expected it, and respected you for it too. Giving wimmin equal rights. That's where it all went wrong.
I suppose it all depends on your definition of "Unarmed". If Catapults, knives and slingshots and iron bars don't count then the "Peace" party aboard the Mavi Marmara were certainly unarmed.
