Woke this morning with that horrible feeling after something terrible has happened and you wake up hoping it was a bad dream. 4 let in at home!
Forgot we were playing the former Brentford first team yesterday.
    Groan.
We need another good run to get us to safety.

Not possible that the lad nearly level with him has put him off then?

Not sure he would have been put off, but the issue is more that the fella to his left was able to get to the rebound off the keeper first and clear the ball. With no encroachment, Wells may have scored on the follow-up. Having said that, there were a couple of our players in the area too, albeit not so far. The thing is, you will probably never see a penalty where nobody is encroaching.

I think our penalty taker has often been Luongo, who has finished them cooly. Not sure what his success ratio is but I think it's pretty high.

When there's a really important penalty like that, you need to choose someone who gets them right time after time, regardless of what position they play outfield, and not just pick the striker.

If it's not such an important penalty, then it's fine to use it to boost the confidence of the main striker. But now his confidence will be a bit shot.

Can't remember Luongo taking one. Hemed put one away on his debut I think, but we'd already used all 3 subs yesterday. Seem to remember Wells scoring a pen before too.

True, but at least we didn't lie down. There is spirit in the team, but hell, McClaren needs to look at that defence

Hemed I think has scored a pen but he scored from open play on his debut, home to Wigan I think. Don't remember Luongo ever taking one.

Yes, remember his debut goal now. Hope he is fit to share the load with Smith soon.

From memory, I remember Luongo taking quite a few and placing them really well. I don't think anyone else in the squad is a particularly good spot kick taker. Unless someone knows more than me?

We have four tough tough games in 12 days now. That is a hell of a tough schedule.

I have absolutely no idea what team will turn up to any of them! Will it be the first half team or will it be the second half team???

    Welcome to QPR! :emoticon-0100-smile

Then there will be another FA Cup 5th round tie in about 2035. :)

We will have much practice time to perfect the art. It may even be in a new stadium?

    What has happended?

We were so consistent with the team selection in the last months, that it literally picked itself. It was not even a disucssion point on this boards.

Suddenly, we don't have the feintest of ideas on the formation, yet alone the player slection.

    What a turnaround!

It has fallen apart a little bit with the injuries to the loan players and the absence of Luongo on his aussie bus tour... .

Sad that it falls apart so easily, really brings home that it is a fine point with our squad of being competitive or being rather ordinary

McClaren went 3 5 2 start of the 2nd half with Hall, Leischner and Lynch (later Furlong) at the back, saying we needed 3 back there to stop their 2 strikers. Think we might well see that again especially while Cameron remains out. I think Cameron's absence is a big factor in our poor defensive record of late.

When we saw Leistner out stripped down and warming up at half time...we half wondered if Steeeve was going to utilise Hall as aDCM rather than go 3 at the back, especially with cousins also coming on (4-1-3-2)

    Lumley
    Furlong, Leistner, Lynch, Bidwell
    ..................Hall
    Cousins, Luongo, Freeman
    Smith and Wells

But it wasn't....it was definately (3-5-2)
    Lumley
    Leistner, Hall, Lynch
    Furlong Cousins, Luongo, Freeman, Bidwell
    Smith and Wells

    even after Lynch came off
    Lumley
    Furlong, Leistner, Hall
    Wszolek Cousins, Luongo, Freeman, Bidwell
    Smith and Wells
