Again! How many points have we lost in the last 10min including extra time? Well into double figures I reckon. That’s the part of the situation I cannot get my head around, at the moment. Doesn’t seem to matter who’s in the defence, it just keeps on happening. You can almost understand teams coming here and thinking, we’ll nick this in extra time, everyone else does!
We unloaded more than 150k p/w in wages through the end of the year. Not spending in January was a choice.
Starting Long against a team that`ll park the bus and leave no room behind seems odd. Surely Austin or Gallagher would have been more logical.
Hesketh has been loaned to League 2, oddly enough. According to Burton's manager, we tried to leverage his first half performance to squeeze some money out of them, and when they declined, we loaned him to MK Dons.
Well it sums it up that a player in league 1/2 is streets ahead technically of our current players. It’s unforgivable to me that we keep picking them. I am fuming about it. Would honestly prefer Stephens/Yoshida up front than Long. The guy cant even make a five yard pass, let alone score. Shocking.
Does feel a bit like that at the moment. There’s a lack of leadership at the back I think. And I’m not totally convinced by McCarthy either.
I think we may not have the money people think we do. I mean, we SHOULD have funds, I agree. But it’s entirely possible someone pissed it away somehow under the table. I find it hard to believe the club actually thought the side did not need another attacker. The other thing is,if not spending in January was a choice, it is a choice we will keep making. I mean, maybe the owners are just stingy/greedy and we have money but either way IMO our transfer window decisions were based on finances and not football.
Really poor decision to start long over Austin. We didn't need long's running in this sort of match. First time i feel Ralph got it all wrong. On top of that the boards failure to strengthen our midfield in an attacking sense makes us useless at breaking down teams who defend all game JWP Romeu and PEH really are not going to break anyone down who come to defend.
Once bitten, twice shy and all that. We paid way over the odds to get in Carrillo and are paying the price. I obviously have no idea how much it would have cost to get Che Adams in, but suspect it was more than he is worth and more than he’ll be worth in the summer
I don't think it's been pissed away under the table. Rather, I think that our current owner bought us without having the liquidity to support it, has now watched his primary business lose most of its value, and is hoping that the club turns enough of a profit that it's an attractive asset to offload in the next couple years. Basically, the same situation that existed prior to the sale, only we're in far more dire shape if we get relegated.
No it shows what we freed up. We didn’t spend but had money that was the choice. We gambled massively last season and scrapped by. Not sure that’s going to keep occurring.
Here's a question, though: we had zero net debt when sold. There's absolutely no reason to think that last season and a half hasn't been highly profitable, as well. How have we possibly turned that into a situation where there is no money available? I suspect it's much more that the money isn't available because our owner doesn't want money to be spent, rather than a circumstance where the club cannot afford it. At least I hope so, because it would take spectacular mismanagement in just 18 months to fail to have the ability to make signings with our turnover and player sales.
It’s quite plausible he brought us to get his money out of China and has every intention to sell us on pretty quick.
